Greetings all.
I was wandering around a flea market on Saturday and found what looked like a Buck 110 sheath, in great, almost new condition. So I picked it up and it felt heavy. This table had a lot of crap that they were selling for way too much. The price tag on this sheath was $15, more than I could get it from Buck, but I'd have it then and there.
There was a knife in the sheath, but I expected a piece of crap 110 knock off. No such luck. I opened the sheath up and a slightly tarnished 110 fell out in my hand. Hmmmm... what have we here. I opened it up and the blade was full and sharp, showed some signs of sharpening, but not much. I looked at the tang, .110. Wonderful. I've been looking and looking for a really good 95%+ full two dot 110.
I gave the man the $15 he wanted and left happy. But now I'm wandering... is this sheath accurate. It looks too good. Granted the knife looks great after some polish... I need to buff the bolsters really good but my last Dremel buffing pad has seen better days, so I'll get one at wal mart tomorrow... but I don't know enough about the sheathes and when and how they were made.
The sheath is dark brown leather with BUCK stamped in the flap and BUCK stamped around the snap. On the old sheath I have with my no dot 110, the 110 stamp is above the belt loop on the back. On this sheath the 110 stamp is below.
If the sheath isn't accurate, I don't really care. I'm most happy about having a nice, albeit later, two dot. Now I can start looking for a three and then four dot before I worry about finding an earlier two dot.
