New 285 Bantam "Copperhead" handles?

I'm betting that's an error in their description. Buck's catalog says that they are glass reinforced nylon, but who knows, maybe it's a special run for SMKW's.

That's too bad. I was hoping that it was a special run, I would have jumped on an aluminum version.

These new handles are being listed as FRN on knife center, which I believe is also wrong.

I like the copperhead design, though. If I were getting one, that's the one I'd pick.

???? FRN is short for Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon. That's what the catalog says they are, but it just says "glass reinforced nylon", so Knife Center is correct. I guess Buck just figures that we would know that by "glass" they meant fiberglass. I don't know of any other "glass" they would use?

Plumber, I just read Buck's website. I guess the new bantams are FRN.

Aren't older Bantams made with thermoplastic handles?

Just got mine, 283 nano in copperhead. I really like the looks of this little pocket knife. I wouldn't say it exactly resembles a snake but it's very cool all the same! nice tight blade with Buck's factory razor edge.

I love the Bantams, my niece and her husband have recently given a green light to give their kids their first knives, I'm thinking 283's for each!

I think it's a great idea. These are small enough to fit into there hands and with the lock blade safe enough, with some supervision, to get them started in the wonderful hobby of Knives.

Yeah, they just turned 9 (girl) and 7 (boy), so I'm thinking she'll get the Mossy Oak Pink Blaze (she loves anything in that color) and he'll get the Mossy Oak or Realtree (the kid is a camo nut!) :)

I have those to except the pink and really like them. The mossy oak orange blaze is pretty sweet, he may like that to.

Yeah, he's a total camo kid, last year his Mom told him to "go put on his best shirt for church" and he came out of his room in a camo t-shirt. :)

I bet he would really like the Mossy oak break-up camo. every pattern is unique. All 4 of mine are different but have the basic brown and black camo colors. The camo kalinga Pro folder is a nice knife too, a bit large for him but one he may want down the road.
