I've owned Sebenzas in the past, Classics, 21's, Large, Small, what have you.
Always sold them either because they didn't hold an edge, or just never seemed to break in to be easy to open.
Well, since they've introduced Magnacut, I figured I'd give the Sebenza another try.
Luckily, I found a brand new Small, 31, Insingo in Magnacut on the Bay.
It arrived yesterday and I have to say, this is the best put together Sebenza I've ever seen.
Rock solid lock up, perfect centering, perfect edge bezels, stupid sharp, and beautiful handle and blade finishes.
Yes, it was sluggish opening and it felt like there was almost no grease on the washers.
So I took it apart right away to re-lube it and remove the lanyard which I never use.
Well, wouldn't you know, the damn supplied Allen Wrench was too large for the screws and only fit in a tiny bit. I slipped on a few of them and
buggered up the insides of several screws. Should have stopped after the first one. Anyway, I pulled out my cheapie Huskie brand Allen Wrench
from Home Depot a while back. That Allen Wrench fit perfectly. I got the knife apart (it was bone dry) and put a bit of grease on the washers and reassembled the whole thing.
It's still stiff but at least now it has that nice "hydraulic" feeling.
And it's starting to ease up with continuous opening and closing.
But I'm still pissed that the wrench supplied by CRK was so bad.
Anyway, I have a brand new set of screws on the way from CRK, and hopefully they'll supply an Allen Wrench that actually fits this time.
I plan on using this knife for everything, unless I need something larger; then I'll use my Giant Mouse Ace Grand (love that thing)!
Use your knives folks!

I had the same issue with the wrenches that came with my Inkosi. Somehow I had several spares…..But it does suck That CRK isn’t immune to the QC monster.
They sure arn't. I wonder who they get the wrenches from. I imagine those are purchased from some other company.

I've had some ill fitting wrenches from CRK as well. I rarely use them, I just put together a quality takedown kit separately for maintenance on the Reeve knives. I much prefer a proper tool rather than those little wrenches anyway.

Odd about the wrenches, never had a problem with mine. That is one thing that stands out as a strong point for CRK's however; the ease of take down and minimal amount of tools required - one or at most two different allen keys. That is as opposed to worse case a Hinderer where you need an entire tool box to totally disassemble.

Glad to hear the OP found one he likes!

The CRK wrenches are from Wiha, insane tolerances themselves so it's crazy something like this could happen. Do the larges and smalls take the same size? Maybe a wrench for a large was accidentally packed with it.

I don’t think the are using Wiha any longer. If these new ones are Wiha then Wiha has really slipped. Ive had a chance recently to sample a decent size sample group and I found 3 that just don’t seat well and they are all 2020 or newer.

A couple of years ago, they were stamped Wiha. The new ones don’t seem to be stamped at all. At least on mine.

I think customers should send a quick note to CRK when wrenches don’t fit right, even if you don’t need them to send you another. If it’s becoming a problem, they might not know unless we tell them. I bet they don’t use those wrenches in the shop.

I have a good wrench that fits but I don’t think it was from CRK. I’ve left those CRK wrenches in the little baggie in the box recently.

Glad the OP has a sweet knife in MagnaCut. I’d like to try one just like it but I think I’ll probably try a DP Damascus…but we all know it will eventually be both.

How odd. When I first read the original post, I wondered if the seller on the Bay slipped in a different wrench, but based on the responses, it appears to be a thing. I've always just bought my own 5/64 hex drivers from wiha. Never bothered with the little wrench from crk.

So, the new screw set came, with a properly fitting hex wrench.
I also purchased a set of Wiha inch bits for my Stubby Wiha driver.
I'm all set now!
I'd forgotten how much I love the Sebenza's construction.
It goes together exactly the same way every time, perfect centering and lockup.
