So I stopped by my local REI and ended up coming home with a 585. Now that I'm playing with it, I notice that the safety arm sticks up slightly from the back of the knife when it's not engaged. Is this normal? The reason I ask is that it's annoying under my thumb and it's gotten snagged on my pocket twice now. The knife I got was a display model, so no telling what it's history is like. I know I could send it to benchmade and they'd make it right, but if it's not normal I'd rather just return it and get another from somewhere else. Here's a picture. You can see it just behind the axis slot on the spine, not the safety button but the actual arm that blocks the axis bar.

The button on mine is really the only thing that sticks up, I've never had it catch on my pocket like you describe.

Its not normal. I have like 9 of them and none of them do this. You could just take it out or you can disassemble and fix yourself. It is probably just bent out slightly. Not worth the wait to send it in or hassle of returning in my opinion.
