Hey guys I am looking for a new pair of 6" tactical boots and need some help and recommendations please. They need to be obviously 6", black, have a side-zipper, preferrably regular soft toe, and of course be rugged yet comfortable. My current pair of 8" magnum boots have been beat up pretty good so im looking for new ones, I have been looking at the converse 6" footforce boots lately. Any help would be appreciated Thanks

5.11 I know is a trusted brand and though I have not tried on the boots I know that their clothes are top notch.

I also like 5.11. Very comfortable and long wearing. They also have a pretty good warranty too, though I have yet to use it. The Station boot is the best for all around comfort and long days on your feet, but in a run and gun scenario, look to the XRT. I also like the little extras like the sleeve pocket around the ankle and the speed laces and the composite toe cover that allows for breaching doors, etc..

Matador-

Last EMS job I had the company bought us Converse Tacticals....they were heavy, hot and not overly durable as several had stitching coming out and liners wearing through only after a few months of wear.

hmm so 5.11 seem to be recommended, I was also looking at them as well but they have a large selection. Does anyone know which 6" boots in the 5.11 line-up to buy?

Bates makes some good boots as well. They are my choice for work. I have a pair of their 6" boots that have been re-soled twice and still feel great.

If you do some research on 5.11 boots you will find a lot of reviews saying basically "Super comfortable boots but they wore out in a year and 5.11 said tough titties, normal wear and tear isnt covered so you gotta buy a new pair." I was going to get a pair myself until I saw that trend, that's why I'm reading this thread searching for good boots.

Magnum makes a side zippier that does not go over your ankle but around it. This really adds to the comfort level. I like the return it for a full refund if not completely satisfied after 30 days.I have owned several pair and they are awesome.

I kinda think that 1 year of duty is about the norm, from the dealer I talked to he said that SWAT, and Magnum both were lasting about a year, some guys are harder on them than others, but that was the average. I've worn the sole smooth on my last pair of soft toe SWATs , so I'll go with whatever is cheap and comfortable. probably SWATs with speedlace. if I need steel toes, I have some Dakota mechanics boots, when I need the toes, I don't need the shoes to look pretty.

Garmont's are super comfy and supportive-don't know if they have a side-zip model:thumbup:

Danner is also another name to look at I have a pair of their hiking boots and they are awesome.
