Got a 940. Little adjustment on axle tightness, little lube and it freely swings closed by gravity and locks very solid. Great!

Downer was it was not sharp. Tried to touch it up and you could see a big diff in the angles on each side with a loup. Plus the angles were probably close to 28 +/- per side. Got up the nerve to get out the 100 grit diamond and do a ground up edge. Took from a 100 grit re profile to a 5 micron finish. I have never been this thorough and careful before. It is now the sharpest knife I have ever had.

Sorry to post here, but I was kinda proud of the results, and can't brag to my wife. She doesn't understand why I would spend almost a $100 on a knife 😉

Congrats on the great edge! It's a nice feeling knowing that you have a knife dialed in and can get it screaming sharp, regardless of what you throw at it.

Congratulations on putting your own edge on it. I started hand sharpening on a much much cheaper knife. =)

i jumped right in on my 810 when i got my edge pro, i was amazed with the results being that it was my first time using it.

Tom, I got a KME. Tried off and on for years to free hand. Guess I lack the needed motor skills. I practiced on my wife's kitchen knives, then my cheap stuff before going to the better ones.

I started with a Lansky 5 stone. Now I free hand with a Spyderco Double Stuff and finish with a leather strop. Probably not as precise as a Sharpmaker or other systems but I don't own a knife that won't shave arm hair so that's all I need. I enjoy it and just look for a reason to touch one up.

Congrats! Now that I've gotten decent at sharpening I l find that I often don't take the time and.care necessary to make an exceptional edge. And yet its sooo satisfying! I am again inspired by your excitement over the fruits.of your sharpening harvest!
