We are excited to share our new ABS Expo Website with you. On this website you can read about the Expo this summer, sign up for a free VIP tour of the Alamo before the show, and buy raffle tickets for this years raffle knife.

Also please sign up for our VIP mailing list on the home page. This way you can receive updates regarding changes to the show and news about some of the great knives that are being donated to the auction, including a Wade Colter Goblin folder!

Check it out. Thanks,

I am very much looking forward to this show!

I'm starting to think I may have an addiction --- as soon as Blade was over I began stalking the ABS Expo site :D

Sounds very exciting, although unfortunately I can't make it. Josh, a couple of (maybe stupid) questions.

I tried to join the VIP mailing list and was redirected to "your" mailing list with the remark that I already was a member. Does this mean that I automatically will be informed about the ABS Expo?

How does the auction work? Will the knives that are/will be donated for the auction be shown on the website, including their respective value? Do you have to be in the room to be able to participate in the auction?

Marcel

Marcel,

THANK YOU! I screwed up when I generated the code for that. Deborah is changing it as we speak.

How convienient, my email contact list on the expo site. What a slime ball huh!!! That's a new way to get customers isn't it. :D

This will be fixed in minutes. I will post an update when it is done. Thank you so much Marcel.

It has been changed now. I really would appreciate it if you would go to the home page and sign up for our VIP mailing list.

Thanks a lot.

Works like a charm now.

How about my other questions regarding the auction?

Marcel

Marcel,

The auction will not be online. The knives will be sold in a typical live auction format.

Thanks for the question.

Josh,

I signed up for the mailing list last week, and got a confirmation --- do I also need to redo it?

No xaman, that button was correct. It just got messed up last night in the updating. Your good!

Thanks.

Really looking forward to the Expo.

The ABS event is always one of the better shows of the year in my opinion, especially if one's interested in forged bowies and fighters.

San Antonio is quite a town as well.

I talked to Dan Cassidy about it last night and it looks like it's about six weeks out. Burt Foster and I took it as far as we could but got in over our head with the programing. That's when Dan and Sally Cassidy stepped in and ran with it, thank god. The site is done but the "behind the scenes" programming is being finished. This will allow for the ABS to handle the ABS memberships in an entirely automated way. It's a huge task which involves loading every single member of the ABS, when they joined, when they expire, what makers took ABS school classes, and much more. But when finished this will move the ABS in the 21st century. I can't wait for you to see the site. I think it is killer, and I hope everyone will agree.

Thanks for the comments on the ABS Expo site. This site was designed to have no frills yet be clean, efficient, and informative. Deborah Dean did a fantastic job.

Keith,

I can add some info on the upcoming main ABS site. Dan Cassidy has been contacting Mastersmiths to update their info, and he's given us a preview of the site.

In addition to the click-on sections for ABS, Gallery, Schools, Testing, News, Forum, Techniques, Store, and Links, each Mastersmith will have an individual Bio page. The page will have a picture of the smith, two knife photos, which can be updated as the smith supplies new ones, complete contact info and an unlimited space for the smith to supply work description, news, awards, etc.

Each smith will have edit access to his own copy, so it can be kept as current as the smith is willing to make it. For the collector, this means one click access to any Mastersmith of interest, a photo sample of his/her work, photo of the smith, current contact info, and info direct from the smith on any variety of work related subjects.

There will be pages for Journeymen with contact info, and work description

I've seen my page, and except for the crazy old man in the photo, its really a professional presentation. I believe the new site will be the answer to the questions in the past about outdated or missing information on the old ABS site.

As Josh says, it looks to be only about six weeks out. You'll like it, I'm sure.

John

I would also like to encourage you to sign up for our newletter on the home page of the new site. Even if you can't make the show this year you can hear news about this show and the years to come.

Thanks,
