Here is my new knife built by ABS Mastersmith Ray Kirk (Raker Knives). He calls it the BOB1 (Bug Out Blade).

Blade of 7" and OAL of 12 1/2

Per his website: http://www.rakerknives.com/bug_out_blade.htm
"The knives are made by profiling a billet of the 52100 that has been forged down close to the needed thickness and then ran through my rolling mill. It is then flattened out and the blades are profiled. The flats on these knives have been left in the as forged condition and after grinding, heat treated and bead blasted, a coat of tool black is applied. These knives have a forged in finger guard, thumb notches, tong hole, and fire steel striker notch on butt. The blades and short section of the butt are differentially heat treated. The blades are then oiled and finished. The two smaller ones have a fire steel under the Para cord wrapped handle and the larger one has a horse stall mat for the handles. The horse stall mat is the same material that a lot of the competition cutters use for hard use cutting and is a compressible hard rubber."

I love the knife! It's big and nasty, can't wait to take it out and put it to work!!

I understand how you made the mistake but his name is Ray Kirk, his knife business is called Raker Knives. He makes great knives and is a heck of a nice guy. Makes'um sharp too, doesn't he?

Dang, can't believe I did that. I was thinking Ray and Raker at the same time when typing. This knife is crazy sharp and perfectly balanced for such a big blade. Most comfortable knife I own. Ray is great! He's also made me a steak knife set that I use all the time. Great stuff and very affordable!

Very Nice. Kirk does make great knives. I was introduced to him through a good friend and bought one of his knives as a gift for someone who took me elk hunting.

I'm a tremendous fan of Ray's work. This Custom Scagel style folder, of Damascus forged from 1 3/4" bar of 52100 and 15N20 steel is a regular carry of mine.

Wow... I'm going to try to get Ray to make me a slipjoint this summer. I love his work. I actually ordered another knife from him today. Great Guy!!
