I have followed the Busse forum for some while and have a Rat Howler Gen2 that I have used for some time, acquired from SRKW back in the day. Also have a SOD that is great (both with polished edges), but thanks to Dante, I am a proud owner of a Sage Active Duty that will become my full on go-to for hunting and anything else I can find to turn it loose on knife. If I could get away with EDCing it, I think I would. The Howler will still be around to offer support though, I'm too attached to it.

I have a question or two though about my newest acquisition.
I know the coating is officially "Desert Olive" aka "Sage".
Do the handles go by the same "Sage" name also?
Canvas Micarta, correct?
Am I correct that it came out about 2007, and is "officially" .195" thick?

I was afraid that it would be a bit too small, but it fits my hand real well. I'll find out in a couple weeks how it does on deer, which I am looking forward to.....

(One day I will make it to Fogo and Knob Creek, I'm too close not too.)

Thanks

Black Canvas Micarta and Sage, it's a military over-run. I have the same knife, it's amongst my favorites.

One of my favorites too:thumbup:

I EDC a HD (.200"), the thick AD's are a great knife

Nice score !

It's going to get sharper, it still has lines on it from being thinned down, so I'm going to polish it 600-1000-2000 grit, then strop it with MAAS, that has worked well for the other "Kin" I have.

(my lousy photography skills make it look a bit wider than it actually is, it caught a glare.)

I'll post some after pics.

Mine is considered .195, correct? I don't think I'd want it much thicker that what ever it is.

Yes, yours is from the .195 run. I wouldn't want one thicker either if you plan to use it for hunting. A bit thick for a hunting knife but will work fine, and at .195 will also be great for the tougher task.
Great all around knife...thanks for the pics:thumbup:

Here are some more pics, I sharpened it and cleaned it up a bit. I like the oiled (dark) look better. Once again, sorry for the bad pics, just quick shots.

I didn't get all the marks polished out, but it's a user so it will come with time.

Nice! Love the AD...

How about a photo with the Howling Rat? Got that one and the AD is on the list...

Here is one by Snakedoc from over in the Picture thread, I'll try to get one side by side with the Howler tonight.

Really want an AD but I'm waiting on an extra special Satin / Snakeskin. Nothing else will do!

And the E4 I EDC, since I had it handy and was looking for this pic/comparison before I got the AD.

And one with the Howler, a Bark River Clip Point Skinner, and Dan Brdlik custom, just cause I like it.
