Hello bladeforums. I need help. I am developing a new addiction to knives and i like it. It started with a kershaw blur a week ago and now it's growing with a kershaw rake i just purchased. Where does it go from here. How do you all do it. I don't see the blur ever leaving my pocket. So i guess the rake and all that follow go on a shelf to be admired. Or should i rotate through them all. I dont know where i stand on this topic as a potential collector

I have a hard time rotating my manix 2 out of my pocket but winter makes it easier because I just throw a second knife in a jacket pocket.

Sorry bud, you're in deep, it only gets worse from here on out (and FAR more expensive too...). My advice would be a rotation, neither your blur or rake are really very fancy and are certainly not meant as display pieces, they're users, meant to be edc utility knives. As your collection grows you'll learn what you like and what you don't. Knives will come and go for a while until you really figure out what features do it for you. Eventually you'll have a nice little collection of knives that you like equally and you'll WANT to rotate them so that they all get some pocket time. You may even start carrying more than one at a time...just because you can't stand to leave one particular knife at home. The way I look at it, knife collection (or accumulating...) is a hobby like anything else, the difference is, where someone else might collect something like miniature horse figurines, we at least hoard useful tools that we can get great joy in using day in and day out. You've got a long and expensive road ahead of you, just don't fight it, you've already come to far. :)

it starts off with Kershaws...next it'll be Spydercos, ZT's, Emersons, Hinderer's. Oooh, then there's FIXED BLADES!! Beckers and Striders and ESEEs and and and..........say bye bye to your bank account:D

Welcome... I'd offer my condolences to your addiction, but I'm in the same boat lol, I think most of us are.

As far as rotation goes... USE IT USE IT USE IT!!!!! Don't shelf your new knife, clip it and zip it then take off with it. I've got 4 in my rotation atm, soon to be 6, I base what I carry on mood, and where I'm going.

Good luck, have fun, and yea like dirtypineapples said... say bye bye to the bank account lol

Your screwed bud lol. Youll end up like me . In the last month Ive got a spyderco brown para 2and a perrin ppt, ZT 0651 and 0350, lionsteel sr1a,kershaw skyline, and a sebenza 25. I did sell my hinderer to recoup most of the funds. Its almost as bad as a crack addiction lol. And this place is like the worst support group ever.

Rotate, but use them. If it is legal to carry it, carry it and use it. 9 Benchmades, 2 ZT's, 1 kershaw, 4 Case 6 spyderco's, 2 boker+'s, 2 bucks, 8 cold steel's, 3 DPx gears, 2 esee's. A bunch of fixed blades, waiting on a Swamp rat rodent 9.

Yeah it's addictive.

Good luck dude. This is an awesome addiction, though kind of hard on the wallet. I agree with everybody else. Carry them. I used to kind of scoff at people carrying more than one knife on them. Once I got more in to knives, well, now I carry at least two pretty much all the time. I have one that I carry every day (my sebenza insingo) and then I rotate out what my secondary blade is. That way, everything gets some pocket time/use.

I rotate my knives every day.
Also I'd recommend that you buy a knockout, or piston. Just to get you deeper into the addiction.

It usually does start with Kershaw or Buck and then it spirals out of control...QUICKLY!!! Fifty-dollar knives give way to Five-hundred dollar knives and even then you can NEVER get enough. You will likely become a knife addict like the rest of us.

My first folder was Kershaw skyline

the latest was Hinderer XM 18

Did you hear about Busse?

YIKES!! sounds like i will have to carry the knives for nothing else but to cut the money of the money tree. Thanks everyone for the replies you sold me on carrying them. I have had random low quality knives in the past but putting a decent one in my pocket as advised from a co-worker has changed everything.

It starts so innocently, doesn't it? My first folder was a Spyderco Delica.
