I was outside today boiling down some sap to make maple syrup when USPS dropped off my recently purchased INFI Ruck. Nice little addition to my Busse sword collection. It's a Bantang Regrind and as the previous owner had noted, it's wicked sharp. Quite a nice blade and will be a great little sword to strap to a three day pack. Only criticism I have of it is the handle is slim...could use some magnum grips. Looking at this collection I don't know why I don't have an AK-47.

From top to bottom:
1. REKed Butaniku Short
2. INFI Ruck
3. Ganza Gladius w/ custom pommel
4. Ganza V14
5. Nuked V14 tiger micarta
6. Nuked V14 black paper

Love my Busse swords! Favorites are still the Butaniku Short (perfect to me) and the Ganza V14 (so light in hand, what great grinds).

Awesome group of long INFI (LongFI?). You just need a couple AK-47s now.

I love my Ruck, use it all the time. It’s much handier than a full size AK.

@stjones got loved back by his Ruck once, which wasn’t the best time he’s ever had.

Beautiful collection and a great add

I have a Ruck but it had some dings in the edge when it came to me and I have not had a chance to dedicate time to fixing it. Once I do though I'm excited to go take it for a test drive. Would love to add a Butaniku some day as well!

I have an original Ruck, with my ghetto satin and reground edge. It's never leaving. But you are right, the handle could be a little thicker.

However, the Ruck Force One solved that handle problem. I know a guy...

Amazing collection! Question, are these mainly for show or do you put them to use? If so, what purpose are these best suited for (the short swords)?

After improving the edge geometry on the Ruck it is much more effective on the lighter vegetation, where blade speed and shallower edge angle are advantageous (think machete) while not giving up anything in heavier chopping situations. I did the same thing on the SR Wakizashi, greatly improving it's utility.

You wrote this as I was outside doing a chopping comparison. The Ruck is an excellent woods blade, long and light.

I went out back and found a windfall Spruce. It was still green when it fell, and since it’s -20c here today, it’s frozen solid.

With the long reach of the Ruck and the fast swing, it made short work of limbing a section of the tree so I could get to chopping.

The trunk was about 2.5” diameter and it took just under a dozen swings to get through. It would have taken less, but a few sloppy swings deflected off the bevel and into the other side.

I had my Keffeler Sasquatch and CS MOAB with me for comparison. They both took approximately the same number of swings, granted I was going through a slightly thicker section 8” away from the previous cut.

I thought I’d taken pics of the other chops, but my phone wasn’t liking the cold and I had gloves on, so I guess I didn’t hit the button properly for those.

I wasn’t surprised since I use the heck out of it, but the Ruck chops pretty much neck and neck with the much heavier choppers. On softer wood that isn’t frozen it chops even better, but so do the other two. The Ruck does work far better on light brush and small branches where the extra weight of the heavies has to be slowed down manually, which is hugely fatiguing. So, long live the Ruck! Now, go Ruck yourselves! ;) :D

I also am fortunate to have Ban's touch on one of my Rucks, it is super slim, fast, light. On it, I appreciate the thin handle slabs as he thinned the Ruck down to around 5/32", and it is a wicked sharp blade.
There are some Custom Shop Rucks out there with thicker handle slabs, some also have liners. I have one from a Travelling Trough show that has an almost round handle from both thicker green linen slabs & red liners.I love it too, but not over my BTRegrind...although for brush chopping, that thicker handle is the better choice. The BT Ruck plays a different role.. ;)

I could definitely see the Ruck making quick work de-limbing pine. I'm not much of a fan of chopping in freezing temps though and prefer my Silky saws. On a sub-zero winter camping trip I was whacking away on a pine branch to make a lean-to and my ASH2 flew right out of my hands. Been using my saws since.

I have a brush hog for all my brush chopping needs so this Ruck will probably go unused for now (what a waste I know), but with the way things are going with this COVID-19 scare I might need it to fight off TP Bandits if they discover I have a healthy stockpile and 10 years of freeze dried food. :D

I have a Banned Ruck as well. Brilliant kit. Ban also did a AK-47 for me......an absolute light sabre.
I'm glad Niell's one went to a good home.
Enjoy!;)

PS-Awesome collection!

Holy shat.

Close up of the tigerhide on that v14 please! Thank you!

I had an infi truck at one point. It wasn't beefy enough. Still I wish I'd have kept it.

Oh well.

Congrats!

Rucks are awesome on their own - but when you have Ban work his magick, things go to a whole other level!

Thanks for everyone else's pics too :thumbsup:
