So as some of you know...I was looking to refurbish or replace my 2000 model CQC-7B recently. Well with some helpful motivation from a few members on here, I decided to go with a new CQC-7BW. I chose to go with the Wave feature this time.

It arrived today!!! I placed the order with KSF and much to my surprise, it is a 2012 model. I would have thought that I would get a 2014 model at the oldest.

Funny enough though, I prefer this one because it has the older backspacer rather than the standoffs. I feel as though a backspacer design is stronger than standoffs.

I also decided to go with a non serrated blade this time. Not that I dont like serrations, I just like more cutting surface.

Perfect Fit and Finish on this Bad Boy!!

Anyhow, enough talk........Here are some pictures.

Looking good, G-dog. That's a serious piece of knife. I opted for no wave on my CQC=7 many moons ago, but would definitely go with the wave if I had it to do over. My subsequent Emersons are all waved.

That is awesome! Congrats!

So you know, a 2015 in the same configuration is no different other than the serial number and year markings. Same materials and thickness in it's build.

Thanks man. I am curious to see if I will like the wave. So far I really love how grippy the G10 is and the non serrated blade.

Thanks for the info Ray. I thought all the newer CQC-7's had standoffs. Glad to hear its the other way around.

The 7 is classic. Gotta love the black blade too, seeing it wear over time just adds to its story! Honestly the next 7 I get is gonna have to be an HD!

Always good to see a new Emerson! The 7 is a classic. Be sure to keep us up to date on the new sidekick in life!

Man I bet your '00 is smooth as glass since it's so well broken in! hehe.

Looking forward to hearing use reports!

Hey buddy!!!!! My 00 is buttery smooth and still a great knife. Has sooo many miles on it, yet tons of life left. I really considered sending it to you for a regrind, but decided to retire it and pick up a new one.

How ya doing??

Put a little bit of Fire Clean on the pivot, and now it's smooth as can be! Loving this thing.

Better that you retire it... don't regrind sentimental or irreplaceable knives ;) That thing has seen some love that's for sure! Great pic man.

Thanks bud!!!

It sure has, I remember breaking the tip off shortly after I got it. I was prying a can of car wax open with the very tip....stupid. But I kept using it hard for many years.

I distinctly remember using it to cut shingles for a few roofs I did. The tar was on the blade for many many years!

The 7 is such a classic. I still have my benchmade version that was the only pocket knife I owned for a long time.
