Yesterday, while between classes, I made the whopping ten minute drive to New Graham Pharmacy/Knives. Drooled all over the cases for about 1.5 hours and walked out with a Benchmade 670S Apparition and a Kershaw Cyclone. Had good conversation with a very nice and knowledgeable young lady who worked there. Went back to Bluefield State and started checkin' out the new purchases.

I bought the Apparition for my right-side pocket while I planned to use the Kershaw on the left. Open up the Kershaw and fell in love...until I found the clip is only point-up/point-down reversible - not side-to-side. Went through class and made another run back down to New Graham.

While there, I had very good conversation with another knife knut. Not sure what his name was as I forgot to ask but he was extremely nice and very, very well-read on the subject of blades.

Ended up getting a Spyderco Endura 4 Wave to replace the Kershaw Cyclone. OMG! I absolutely adore this thing and, together with the Becker Necker on my belt and the Apparition in my other pocket, I don't think there's much I can't cut.

Thanks New Graham!

Sounds like you got yourself set up well for a while. Are their any problems with carrying on the college campus? I hope to trek to New Graham one day.

Yes, I believe I'm satisfied with my cutlery for a while ;) I was torn between the Apparition and *something else* and just the Rukus. Decided I would cry if I tore up a Rukus so there ya go

Nah, I don't have any issues on campus. Most of my engineering teachers carry something (usually a slipjoint) and don't even blink when I use one. I keep 'em in my pockets around the rest. I'd rather not use them than get in some sort of trouble for carrying where I shouldn't.

I highly recommend going to New Graham. I've never had such a great experience in a retail setting - plus the prices are pretty darned good.

Congrats on the new sharp and pointies!! It sounds like you are a very happy camper!

VDchylde, thanks for the good words. The old guy you talked with was me.
Stop in anytime....and thanks for your support.
Regards, Mike

VDC, I'm sorta of a Rukus nut, with a 610 that I put the ivory micarta grips on, and have to tell you that it would take a LOT to tear up that knife! Mr. Dye, do you have the Rukus in stock, or the minirukus in stock? They are on my wish list at your site and are showing up as out of stock. Know when more will arrive? Do you have the grips for the 610 and 615? Man, just look at all those questions!

Glad you don't have a problem carrying on campus and good idea about keeping a low profile when you do use 'em. Sure some folks would be tempted to pull it out and sling it open into a loud cracking lockup drawing the attention of everyone in the vicinty!

Wow, I really wish I was in such close proximity to New Graham, though it's definitely better for my bank account that I'm a few states north.

Oh, and old or young, I always thoroughly enjoy my phone conversations with Michael (not that the rest of the NGK crew aren't pleasant to speak with too).

Heh, I was hoping this post would tempt you out after our conversation the other day :) Glad to meet you again. My name is BJ, by the way. I'll probably be down next week to get something to sharpen these with (sharpmaker, maybe).

As for being so close the NGK, Padawan, I actually live 1.5 hours away. I drive to Bluefield, WV Monday through Friday for college. New Graham is about another 10 or 15 mins away. Heck, while I'm that close, I may as well go somewhere I enjoy.

By the way, Mike, would you mind if I put up a cot in the backroom? I'll clean knives and polish cases in exchange for rent. :D

The knives are awesome, by the way. I just wish I had better sharpening skills as I would really like to thin out the angles on both knives a bit. All the same, I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase. Thanks again!

Sal, as you know it's the mileage that wears us out.
Padawan, it's always enjoyable to talk knives.
Cutter, big BM order due in first of next week. Will see what we get. No scales for the 610 615 series tho...will have to check on those.
BJ, better think about the price of that cot....lots of glass and lots of blades to polish...trust me, that part gets old. :D

Yea, I taught NGK-Webmaster all he knows, but didn't teach him all I know. :D

Or Annie.

voodoochylde,

next time you come in and want to talk knives to someone younger than than the store building give me a yell.

Mike,

,.l..

Indeed, her name was Mary Beth, according to my receipt. I'll be sure and look ya up next time I'm there...as in next week :)

As far as the price of my cot - HA! I need the experience with the blades and I would really enjoy the company.

Take care guys!
