It’s been a long road but we now have a sub zero freezer. Goes down to -86c but I have it currently set to -84C which is right about -120°f. We have wanted one for a long time but you have to be doing a lot of knives to make something like this worth the investment and monthly running cost. I lucked out and got it for a good even considering I had to ship it from Florida and it’s 400lbs. New these are $10,220 so I’m tickled pink. Inside is 18x18x16 so plenty of room for lots of blades at once. Building a rack so blades can hang vertically. We have had a sneaking suspicion that liquid nitrogen is contributing to the bowing issues with aebl. This should allow for a more even cooling process.

Thats great. I'll have to profile a few blades to help pay for it!

Very nice. I was looking at a new ULT freezer unit from China. 18x14x12 inside. About 2200 USD with shipping, customs etc to Sweden. Still craving, but I have settled for -45 at 6% of that cost. For now.

You can get the best life out of them, they are most often used at -70C

Get a manual and do the maintenance, especially on changing air filters and blowing the coils out of dust.
