I received these fine blades through a trade with gurkha berserka for the khukuri built longbow. I think he was more than generous!

Top to bottom:

18.5" 34 oz. Dui Chirra by Purna. I'm told it's the first one he made for HI. Appears to be built to withstand Armageddon!

18" 23 oz. Chainpuri by Purna. Wonderfully balanced, a real swashbuckler!

15" 15 oz. KLUVK. It came rough and ready, so I've since polished the handle and oiled it, as well as the bevel of the blade. It's already taken it's turn on a bow stave, and even saw kitchen duty last night. What a worker! The other two are solidly built, but so exquisitely finished I'm going to leave them as show pieces for the foreseeable future. This knife is a joy to use!

I didn't expect any of this, but to my surprise and delight, I have a nice HI collection going!

Nice scores! I'd say that is more than a fair trade for the bow! Definitely use that Dui Chirra as soon as possible, it'll blow you away.

Put up pix in use if you get the chance!

I am glad you are happy with the trade. I feel I received a more than far trade too. I love the Hackberry bow you made with a kukri. TC also scribe my name, date, wood type, pull length and poundage, plus a nice little kukri scribed underneath everything. The bow is amazing and I will post pictures once there is a sunny day or two around here. I have it stored under in a katana rack... it looks really cool with the katana, kinda like it belongs there. It has that longbow look of traditional Japanese bows.

I had to watch a video or two before I strung it for the first time. I am now an old pro and it. I can string and unstring on demand it a couple seconds. Its pulling close to 50lbs at my draw length. I have been able to get decent groups at 25
yards. It WAYYY different compared to my Mathews compound bow. They represent two totally different shooting styles. I have had to relearn shooting a bow. It reminds more of instinctual shooting with a sling shot than what I am use to shooting compounds.

My compound hasn't been touched since I received TC's masterpiece in Hackberry!

I already had a few people ask me where they could buy a bow like mine. I snickered a little and told them it was a one off piece. I hate to say it, but I kinda liked seeing the envy on their face.

I still have a vast collection of HI stuff, I am glad I could get you started on a nice collection of your own. Travis is a class act and anyone doing trades with him need not worry.

This sounds like a win win happy ending in all respects. We all got some good learning on the building of a bow, you got a nice enviable bow and Travis is well along in his Kuhkri addiction.

In so many ways the old ways are best I think.

More pics when you get a chance, we just love pictures.

There's a fair chance of that happening soon. My folks have a rogue cherry tree that needs to come down. May as well have fun doing it!

I just love happy endings. Congratulations to the both of you. Now let's see what happens to that cherry tree!

That'd bee cool! How are you planning to take down that tree? You got choices now ya know;)
I may have opportunity to pick me up a stave this weekend. Im headed to a Knap-in on the Llano River and there are people there that sell primitive weapons and material to make them. And of course lots of rock for knapping as well. Hope to meet up with some of my buds on another forum and get some education. Should be fun. Ill get lots of pics for yall. Speaking of rocks and staves. Are you interested in any certain kind of knapping material while im there? Ill surely pick you up some.

I thought I'd give the Dui Chirra a workout on it, and will have the KLUVK along as well. I want to take it down easy and save much of the wood for projects. Yep, I'll take some pictures!

Thanks for the offer! You know, I'd love to works some flint, chert, or even some Arizona basalt if any is available. Any of those would be great. I have loads of obsidian, but it's been a while since I've worked tougher material. If you want some obsidian, e-mail me your address and I'll send some along. Have fun at the Knap-in! If you can pick up a good hickory stave, that would be a great choice for your first bow.

Hickory it is then! Maybe two in case I screw one up. Thanks Travis.
I have some cobbles and spalls of chert I got last night but ill look for some better quality stuff (rootbeer, georgetown, etc.) while im there as well as the Arizona basalt. Ill be glad to trade for obsidian. Ill PM ya shortly. The tough stuff is killin my elbow lately anyway.
Hers a little corner tang knife im making from a piece of smoky glass. I wish it was longer but oh well. Its practice anyway. It came from an old CRT TV tube. Them old TV's and computer monitors have some serious glass in them. This one was close to an inch thick in some places.
