Recently I've noticed an addition to the kami's signature line -- see symbol to right. I'm somewhat perplexed as to the reason for this addition but am guessing it could be to thwart counterfeiters.

Any other ideas?

Didn't it say somewhere that Bura had helpers since his illness? Could it be a helpers signature or maybe an apprentice he is supervising??

Uncle Bill,

Do they all use the same mark or is it individual like their usual mark?

Maybe it's an inspection stamp? Been through the bang 'em around thing we talked about here a while back when there were tang failures?

It looks a lot like the ancient scrawls denoting the landing sites of spacecraft.

That sheds a whole new light on Josh's avatar! Are the khukuri's origins extraterrestrial?

I dunno. A counterfeiter's job is to copy marks, think they'd have no prob with a few more.

Perhaps it has some shop signifigance? New millenium?

yeah, I wondered if it wasn't part of the Calender; Hindu's have anything special coming up?

Season of the Spacecraft?

... is there a new missionary near Bir Gorkha?
quite sure the kamis take bets during their tea-break what we think it could be. And maybe it does not mean anything. Would be fine if it was an inspection mark - but I doubt.

I've donated land by my house in NM for the new BirGorka:D

On second thought, I have 5 acres just outside of Tierra Amarilla, Rio Arriba County, NM going to waste. They could have that. :)

I don't know. Just looks like a stylized sun and moon to me. I would suspect that if it has just shown up that it is a mark they are using to ID their 2004 work specifically. (?) Anyway, that's how I would do it...

Svashtar

Call 'em & ask.
That's what I do when I have a knife question. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to work through the automated phone router, but it's usually possible to get through to somebody in the service department if you keep on punching buttons long enough.

Ics37 - NM is too hot for them...they can set up shop in my back yard. I've got a 7 acre pond and that should do for cooling off a *lot* of blades. Got a bunch of deer back there too...great for sacrifices! :D

There have been a lot of good ideas here...how do we find out the answer?

Ics37 - NM is too hot for them. Nasty

Think again. Tierra Amarilla is about 15 miles from the Colo border. One of the coldest spots in the Winter. NORMALLY, plenty of snow.
Summer better have some warm blankets at night. Stream at the bottom of the hill for water:) I live about 150 miles south , don't get up to the land very often, pay the taxes every year, darn it. Did I mention the bears?
