Just curious if anyone has encounderd any new problems at airport (or, for that matter, any other) security checkpoints.

I had a roll of straping tape and a bottle of insect repelent taken last summer comming back from a vacation in Latin America ("guards" explained that the tape was not allowed because it could be used to tie up people(!) and the insect repelent because it was flamable......).

My ferricium rod, spy capsule, handcuff key and large locking carabiner have gone un-noticed so far.

Am wondering if any of the gadgets we tend to carry on keychains are now on the "no-no" list.

:grumpy: Just returned from a week in London. On the USA side of travel, the metal cap on my nitroglycerin tablets (heart condition) set off the screening device.. then some candy in my pocket (plastic container had metal-type label). Also had to remove my shoes (ECCOs, which have thick soles). I'm in my early 60's, retired, ex-military and ex-CorporateAmerica. This screening process seems to be somewhat ecclectic and by no means consistent. Across the "Pond," it's even more lax.

Had a 3" bladed folder (non-locking, of course.. wouldn't want to upset the Brits) in my check-in luggage. The crime rate there has risen steadily and they get jailed when protecting themselves. Glad to be back in the USA.
