Imagine my surprise when a knock at my door this morning was a UPS man holding a package from A.G. Russell! After all that's happened. It was suppsed to be sent by next-day air, but I guess it was trucked in. I had called yesterday and told Russell customer service that I understood about the planes being grounded and I would just wait my turn.
But it came anyway! These black micarta scales are quite beautiful. It's only the second micarta handle knife which I've owned. The first was a little Buck that I purchased on our honeymoon 24years ago and the scales still look pretty good. As a matter of fact, the knife has aged much better than I.
Are there any negatives to this stuff? It looks really great!

Tell us more about this nice little knife.
How solid does it feel, how good is the lockup, how does it compare in its "feeling" to other small knives that you have?

Being a huge fan of my Sere 2000, I checked out the SLB on the AG Russell site. That knife looks so cool. I have never really had a "thing" before for small knives, but I will make an exception for this sharp little unit. It would make a great money clip.

i dont have one,but after reading about it here, and on ag's site i made it a point to go check it out in person.
so i went over to the showroom to handle one and was impressed. very high quality. F&F was great. dont remember blade steel, but was very sharp.

impressed me as much as the spydie mouse did.

First of all, my "SLB" is as sharp as a razor. I've already cut myself and I didn't even know it! It's micarta scales are simply beautiful. When closed, it reminds me one of those rocks you pick up from a stream bed. Smooth and solid. The lock-up is solid too, and the blade flicks open at a touch of the thumb stud. Absolutely NO blade wiggle. It is a small knife that thinks it is larger than it really is. It has a right to. A really nice touch is the serrations on the back of the blade-on top AND on the bottom. This makes for a really solid grip.
This little "SLB" is the neatest small knife I've ever purchased.
I can't imagine ANY complaint you'd have if you called up A.G. and ordered one of these. I mean that as a knife collector for many years. My "SLB" is perfect!
