Although a huge fan of the Leatherman Micra since 1997, I have always thought there was room for improvement. The tweezers are too thin, although I have used them successfully a number of times. A larger problem; it isn't very hand friendly. There are too many sharp edges, not only making it uncomfortable in use, but can wear pocket fabric. Several of my jeans small pockets have frayed patches or holes in them from wear associated with the sharp screw heads. This hasn't been a deal breaker for me because the same angularity applies to the screwdrivers, making them high performing implements of that size in a keychain tool. That, plus good scissors, sort of sealed things for me.
Still, I was hoping the Squirt models would incorporate my hoped-for improvements, and actually, they have in the two areas I mentioned. Their contours are much refined, and the tweezer is more functional. That's great, but I have found the S4 scissors do not cut as well, at least on the materials I encounter, the drivers are less squared off, like on SAKs, and the outside opening implements (nice) don't allow for extension (not so nice), except for the phillips. In the end, I gave my S4 to the wife (BTW, she likes it, hates the Micra, go figure) and I reverted to the Micra. I don't have much of an opinion about the P4. It looks like a good tool, but the pliers are too small for my purposes. My idea of small pliers still useful is the Juice.
It is doubtful, from its present offerings, that Leatherman will refresh the Micra in a direction I would prefer, so I am glad it remains in production as is.
