Hey everybody. New on the forum and have been collecting knives for two years. Although I've been collecting knives for that long I still only have 31 blades. Two swords and the rest knives. I'm only 13 and would like to learn about different types of knives. So far the knives I know are folders, fixed blades, Spring assist, Kukri, Karambit, butterfly, and bowie. I would also like to know sites to get knives and swords. My main site is trueswords.com :D
Thank you for reading.

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot to learn right here in the various forum threads. Keep an open mind and don't get discouraged when some have different opinions than you do.

Remember it is not necessarilly how many knives you own because that will come with time. I think that it is better to research well and listen to those that have been around awhile. Purchase what you like and try to go for the quality not the quantity.

Good luck.

You got more knives than I do :D

I'm a bit curious as to how you managed to get ahold of so many swords, knifes, and other blades at 13 years of age:eek:.

I am 41 and I have well over 150 knives. Welcome to the forums little buddy. This is a great place to hang out and you will meet some of the nicest people on here and knife collecting is a great hobby. I wish my daughter's and nephew's wanted to get into this. There are a lot of good sites, just google them. I use Amazon most of the time but Smokey Mtn. Knife works is another. I collect Swiss Army knives mostly or Multitools. They are addictive.

To learn more than you can get anywhere else in one fun place, stay here, lurk, ask questions or for more clarity. Don't avoid asking what you may think is a dumb question. Once we all get to know you and your history, we'll be patient and will better understand where your interests are now. If you've been collecting for two years already, you're certainly aware that your focus will change between styles, materials, blade steels and designs. God I sure have - in quick order too.

knarfeng's posted link covers your other questions . . .

So hang out and become a respected member ;) Welcome too!

Just for your Information though, the steels I like the best are Bucks 420HC, S30V, and 1095 and anything with Victorinox (Swiss Army Knives). There are a lot better steels but for a working man and not to hard to keep sharp, those are my favorites. S30V, is hard to sharpen but once its sharp it stays that way and is a great pocket knife steel. Buck does a great job with there 420HC and of course Victorinox is famous for there heat treat and for the Woods, 1095 all day long. To make sure you get a real Swiss Army Knife, always look on the blade at the bottom and it should say Victorinox. There are a lot of copies that are crap out there so don't get fooled. Make sure its Swiss made. That's my advice to a beginner. Have fun.

I might have been at that number or just shy of it at your age. Its nice seeing younger folks on here who are eager to learn about a great hobby. Welcome

13 or 31? either way, not too many people i kwno collect swords. its pretty much as limited as your wallet and imagination is. just keep on keeping on and read up on the various forums. there isnt a lack of information out there, just be aware of bad information. the internet isnt always good for everything and take everthing with some doubt and you should be fine. P.S. some advice to a young person on the internet, never ever meet up with anyone on the internet (no matter how cute you think the girl might be or how good the deal may be on a knife/gun/whatever) and never give out your address unless your buying from a reptuable store! the internet is one scary place!

welcome! when i started collecting (at about 12), i sort of just bought what "looked cool" and didn"t pay much attention to materials quality etc. almost 6 years later and i won't buy a knife without carefully looking at materials, alternative options, and best pricing etc. i only joined the forums (almost) 2 years ago and wish i had much earlier. theres a wealth of knowledge to be learned here but i don't think you're parents will appreciate your sudden interest in higher-end knives as a result of reading around here:D
