New Anvil!

Well I guess I just can't hold it in any longer. I just have to push out one minor gloat. I just got my NEW ANVIL!

I bought a Nimba Centurion anvil. It's an Italian-style, double-bick 260 pound paperweight made by Russell Jaqua, of Port Townsend, WA. I'm very impressed with this anvil. The lines and finish are just what one would expect from a true metal artisan. Nice folks to deal with too.

Now I can't wait to get a base made and start using it. :D
 
Congrat's Higgy! Any pic's of it? I haven't heard of the manufacturer. Is he a custom metal working outfit?

I can't wait to see the blade that breaks her in.

Thanks for the link Fox. Very interesting anvils. Based on the price of those suckers, my rail section and old dead anvil are going to have to do for a while. I keep hoping that I'll run in to a nice old Peter Wright or Hay Budden at an estate sale or garage sale. I guess it doesn't hurt to keep dreaming...

Let us know how you like it Higgy! It sounds like they are a real nice anvil. How's the rebound and ring?

I'll keep you guys posted. Shop undergoing reconstruction right now; it might be another month before everything is in place and I have time to fire up the forge again. Meanwhile, much to do on house before wedding guests (my daughter) start arriving in May.

Oh and one thing is apparent right now... it rings even when I'm wiping it down. Maybe a decent stand made out of multiple layers of dense particle board will help.
