The first one I found at a pawn shop and the second is my ebay screw-up. It's a 2010 and the handle looks worse than my 15 year old 119.

I only got the bottom half of the box for the 728. Should I keep it in the box half I've got or just put it in the sheath and put it with the other Bucks?

The 728 Bucks were sold at Walmart in 2004 just prior to Christmas. Those were made oversea's in Taiwan if my memory servers me correctly. When I picked one up in 04, I had no idea Buck was making knives overseas and was disappointed the knife was not made in the USA. The 728 can be found on ebay often.

I vote to leave the 728 in the box half, if you have the room. As BG said, Buck can fix up your knife if you want and the price is right. You will be surprised at the finished product.

I just got through polishing up the blade but the handle is beyond my abilities. I'm thinking about the spa treatment. I don't know what was done to it but the handle on my 1965 2 line inverted 119 looks better.

I think you should save your $$$ on the spa treatment. You have probably invested more money than you should have anyway. My personal opinion is, just because it says Buck doesn't mean it will be anything more than a forien(Taiwan) produced knife. That sounds a little harsh, but facts are facts. Send in your 1965 inverted 2 liner for the treatment, now thats an investment!

We're talking about 2 different knives. I'm talking about sending in a 2010 119 that the handle is rough on. The 728 has never been used. I aint sending the 2 liner anywhere (I don't trust the USPS). Joe H said the 728s sold for 50 and I paid 25 so that's not too bad.

I bought one of the 728's early on. I love the box, the knife not so much. I took the knife out and I'm using the box to store other Bucks. I think the box alone is worth near the $25.

All cleaned up. I had to sand the pummel with 120 grit to get a few gouges out and then re-polished it out with a dremel tool with red rouge. Still working on handle though.
