Hey everybody! I just received Mountain Bowie #1 and the Tarwar from 3/13/09 DOTD. First impressions:

Mountain Bowie- This is definately what I would call a hard use camp knife. It arived quite dull, but that's ok. I will put the working edge on it myself. It screams "take me to the woods!". Not quite sure what to make of the sheath, tho. Will probly get a leather sheath made.

Tarwar- OMG! This beauty was made by Royal Kami Bura, and it shows. Fit and finish are something to behold. Zombies BEWARE!!!

Congrats:)

You might try your hand at leathercaft. It's really not that hard, and can be kinda fun. about 10 bucks in materials, a little forward thinking, and a couple hours can yield a very personal accent to your knife:)

I dable in kydex, but have never made a leather sheath. Where would I get the materials? Thanx for the help.

Try Tandy Leather's site, or the local craft shop. Many local and chain craft/hobby shops carry Tandy products.

Kewl Snag Sir!!
Soooo The Tarwar is a Pretty Neat Blade, Eh Wovoka?
I think the next Blade I would like to add is the Giant Chitlangi Bowie and maybe a Tibetan Sword.....
But right now I am Tickled Pink with My Everest Kats!!

Doc, you really, really, need a Manjushree Sword!
Methinks your prized HI Katanas would rapidly take a back seat to a Manjushree...:p ;) :D

Doc, I followed Yvsa's comments and hunted down an original 2005 made 17inch Foxy Folly ... its now my favourite and most used Khuk!:D

I know that I will now be putting a Manjushree on my sword list!

But back OT: good mini-review Wovoka but where are the photo's?;)

Don't have a digital camera. Crazy, huh? I will obtain one soon, and post pics. thanks for the interest.

Not crazy at all! I only have one because I won it in a phone in competition- the best thing ever won so far:)

Due to the pace of change with anything to do with digital technology, what you buy today is out of date, not to mention almost worthless, within months. :grumpy:

The retained value in knives and such is one of the main reason's I buy them ...after love, and practical usage of course.;)

Yeah, not hard at all. There a re alot of leatherwork tips on youtube aswell.

Tandy is a but pricy. I went with local smaller suppliers.

10oz - 12oz Vegtan is great for a thick blade because you can wrap you knife in cling film and mould the leather with water, cut the final shape out and sew it together. i have recently gotten a whole shoulder in anticipation of the sirupati I have coming in (when those customs vultures release it)
After that, either tool it a little or seal it with some finisher.

Leather looks alot better on a natural materials knife, amiright?

titus: uright. will research and proceed. thanks to all for the guidance!. Happy birthday Yangdu.
