A new addition to the stable arrived today! An awesome HD-7 with a Krein Regrind.:D

Isn't it purdy. Its super smooth, lightning quick to open--even more so than any of my other emersons, and simply just looks killer! Great blade lockup. Its super light for its size, mush lighter than my EDC CQC-15. The SS rear spacers just give it a sweet unique look that I've not seen in any other Emerson. just needs a SS skull logo pocket clip to round out the look.

it now has great home and will live a cushy life;)

Looks nice. Can you give more information on what exactly the Krein regrind does?

Nice knife you have there, thats a score indeed.

The Krein regrind takes the blade down to a zero bevel or micro bevel and thins out the edge.
The one I have just now is slightly hollow over the flat grind of the standard EKI blades as well.

Sweet looking HD-7 Spidyman!!! Has a nice clean look to it, Congrats!

Took it to the spa today! I gave it a thorough cleaning and detail, and put a bit more edge on it. Only one problem, now the lock bar tends to stick when being gentle with it but if I wave it or flick the blade open with a bit of authority it releases like butter. I've tried the graphite trick but its not much of a help. A couple of times I had to use a coin to unlock it.

Lycosa-- any tips

Keep the locking bar "lightly" lubed and let the knife break-in. I did not break that folder in.

Yeah my CQC12 stuck for a while. It will break in on its own. I think I opened and closed it a hundred times or more.

What would you suggest as lube, I normally use either militec-1 oil or shooter choice grease.

graphite seems to be a waste of time to keep this one from sticking. I'll try a light coat of grease and see how that works out.

This HD-7 is just perfect, now if I can get the locking bar to keep from sticking.

update:
I tried grease and it was no help, in fact it seemed to make the problem worse, I'm back to 'dry'. I guess I'll just have to use it a bit and let the lock bar wear in.

Spidy---I just use a oiled cloth and rub the locking bar every so often. Relax---your HD will soon break-in!

Remember---That frame lock might take a tad more time to break-in than a LL!! :D

Its smoothing out, still sticks sometimes, but its getting better. The blade engagement is now close to 85-90% though; weird considering it started at about 20% and has only been used for 5 days as a light EDC to break it in.

Humm, hopefully it'll stay there.

FWIW---Once my LL's break-in, I ease the locking bar in to lock. I only let the bar snap when it's "show-time.

Lycosa -- I try not to snap any of my knives unless I really have to.
This has me confused as to why it has worn so quickly.

One of my 12s did that after a few weeks but has sat at +90% for over a year now.

Unfortunately your goosed for warranty because of the regrind but there is other options if you do have problems with it.

I wouldnt be too worried yet though

Not too worried about a warranty, I'm pretty handy with a mill and a lathe so I can fix pretty much any simple issues.
Just a bit confused as to why it wore so quickly.

Its probably just that the Ti has deformed at the contact point and will stay like that for a while now.
It seems Lycosa didnt use the knife much if at all so your probably just breaking it in fully now.

If you look at the lock face you will see the area that has "compacted" or worn away.
If it does get bad you can put in a lager stop pin or pean the lock bar to put the compacted/worn material back in place.

I'm sure you will find it sits there for a while though, as I say my 12 did the same thing.
