Here's a Janawar Katne that was special ordered (two pieces) for a Japanese oi chan. Kumar made them and did his usual excellent work on the long blade. Knife is 39 inches, 101 ounces, 1/2" thick, 2.75 wide. Straight as an arrow. Karda is 14 inches, 14 ounces. Chakma is 13", 11oz. Karda & chakma 5/16 thick. Excellent scabbard by village sarki in new leather.

These two will be headed for Japan this afternoon.

Here's a 30 inch Kumar Kobra made by Kumar himself who oringinated this design. 30 inches and 42 ounces of excellent khukuri. Kumar does handles better than anybody in the shop including Bura and the inlay work on this one is very, very good.

This was special ordered by a Japanese oi chan. I warned him that he could not use it to chop down oak trees and split logs and if he bent the blade he would have to straighten it himself. He said there was little chance as he intended to use the knife for martial arts class.

I have two extras that are available with the same warning -- if you bend the blade you straighten it. This is really a sword that looks like a khukuri and should be used as you would a sword. If anybody is interested email me. The extras have plain handles, not inlaid like the one in the pix.

And here's the Pen Knife. We got six of them, all by Bura. Sorry to say each one has some rust ranging from two minutes cleanup to 30 minutes. I guess the recent rains and floods are taking their toll even on us.

Good work by Bura even if he did do them while he had a blood clot lurking in his brain. 12/5 inches and 14 ounces. I can't find the picture of the model for comparison but I'm sure Pen can. I'll be sending some of these out today or tomorrow.

We are overloaded in the shipping department today.

Pen-knives... with HORN HANDLES! Woo-HOO! :D

Uh, say Uncle, assuming a guy wasn't broke like me, just how much would one of those 30" Kumars set him back?

quick side by side comparison:

I think Bura got it right on the money! Looks great! WOW!!

For some reason I thought the Pen-knife was going to come with steel furniture. Oh well, looks like a faithful reproduction, and I like the horn handle too.

Thet got right on Pen's special order, and boy tdo those look good for small khuks! Like a nicely finished bulldog villager. Aggressive grind!

How's it feel to be immortalized in an HI khuk design, Pen?

there's an elegance about it. damn.

Kis

kismet = it'll feel a heckuva lot better once I get one in my hands. Every hour, minute, and second between then and now is going to be Torture!

I wish y'all had had a chance to play with the wood model. It has a fascinating swing to it. It was amazing. DaveK did such excellent work making it. It really evoked the imagination.

Of course, now, that memory is driving me crazy!!! 'Cuz I can't wait another minute till it gets here! :p

Somebody buy the Kobras PLEASE. I was just about to hit the send button to send Uncle an email when I thought about my wife and stopped myself!:(

A 30" Kumar Kobra would be wonderful!

Steve Ferguson

Oh heck. I couldn't stand it. Just sent Uncle an email. I NEED one of these.

That Pen Knife looks great! Are anymore going to be made? I'd love one now, but I can't quite afford it:(

Pen and Uncle, that Pen Knife is sweet. I really like the horn handle, it's beautifull.:) Good work everybody. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm working on my car and saving up for some other knives:D, I would jump on this one.
