I just received a few new ones from John. The Anniversary EDC that I have lusted after for several months and the "Pocket Gang". I have had the Pocket Scandi (tiger maple) for a week or so and now have the Pocket Companion ( green micarta) and the Pocket Bowie (maple burl). I threw in an EWOK and Kephart for size reference.

I just played with them for an hour or so and really like each one. Here are some initial observations.

The Pocket Companion is an excellent size for anywhere carry. I did some minor wood cutting and it was as good as I would expect coming from John. The ultralight makes it very light and pleasant to carry and use. It has a small pocket sheath that I neglected to take a picture of, but it fits the bill and then some.

The Pocket Bowie is simply a great looking knife with the maple burl handle. The wife picked it out immediately and stated she really liked the looks of it the best. Good woodcutting and ease of carry. I would say it is the second most comfortable knife of the group with the coffin handle.

The Anniversary EDC is the most comfortable in the hand. I love the handle with the new flare at the handle butt. The EDC really is a joy in the hand. I had it done with a full convex edge and it went to town on the wood and cardboard I used it on. This knife didn't disappoint on any of my expectations.

The Pocket Scandi does everything well. This knife really caught me by surprise. It was an impulse buy and I couldn't be happier with it. I love thelooks and the scandi edge is amazing. This is my first scandi edge and I am extremely impressed with it. I have used it on wood, cardboard, paper and some hings I shouldn't have and it has met all my expectations. It does everything well and it is a size that just slides into the pocket. I have handled a few of John's knife and this has been my favorite design. I need to spend a good couple of days using it and write a more thorough review.

I look forward to more quality time playing with these.

Dave,

You are one lucky sucker!
Then again...the photographic evidence bespeaks a shrewd judge of fine craftsmanship and bang for the buck.
May you and John prosper.
And you could leave some of John's knives for the rest of us!

I will try and leave a few, but I can't guarantee anything. :D

Hi davec611 -

Great pics and a very nice collection of Stomper's work.

I think you helped me decide on the coffin handle for my Bowie.

best regards

I love that pocket Scandi, there is just something about it that appeals to me !

The handle on the pocket bowie is awesome as well, one of the nicest I have seen.If I had one I think I'd see if John could grind the blade right to the back where it starts to curve up toward the handle and make it with no secondary bevel like he did with my Knatchet.
