Recently a writer came to my shop to do an article for a small local publication. He interviewed me and then I took him through the process of making a knife. He's almost done with it. I know Nick had said he had the same thing happening with him. Even though they are small publications I think it is good for the knife world to have positive exposure, even on a small scale. I thought I would share the article.

Thanks Jon. In the paper copy of the article there were actually pictures of 7 knives but I think they don't put them on the website to make for quicker loading. I'm not sure though. It was the same thing with the Fortune magazine article. They didn't put the knife pictures on the web.

I think it helps too. I'm well known in this town for knives after an news paper piece way back in 1998. It about time for another.

Good for you and good for all. I don't think we can understate the value of positive exposure in the mainstream media, whatever the circulation or publication.

Thanks for the compliments. Rodger you're right. If every maker would get a small article like this in their small town a lot more people would know about the custom knife world.

That is great. Every bit of positive exposure for a knife maker helps the whole community of knife makers. We got an article in a community magazine and the response from the people that saw it was very positive. There will be a lot of people that now know about custom knives that didn't before. Only problem is you will get a call from someone like the lady that called us about a week before Christmas and wanted three identical knives. One for her husband and two for her sons and doesn't understand why you are asking which Christmas she is thinking about.:D

Goes to show you how regional things are. Stuff like that would NEVER make a Seattle-Tacoma paper. Go east a couple of hours in real people land and yes.

Nice write up. Hope it generates more business for you.
