Have not seen one in person but on YouTube this thing looks huge! Am I mistaken or could this execute squirrels with ease. I'm digging it!

Are we talking about this knife?

If so, that particular design isn't new. It's been around for five(?)-ish years. It is a mammoth knife, for sure. But very effective in it's designed role.

Is there news of a next gen Assist that I've missed?

That's the one! This year is the Salt model and it caught my eye. I was unaware of the blades size until watching Blade Show 2015 vids. Sorry if I worded it funny...

Yeah, I think it's out in H1 now? I'd love to handle one. Thought about getting one for my wife to keep in her car's glove box...

The Assist is a good size knife, but not a huge one by any means. Blade is a bit over 3.5" long, which is about the same length as those of the Atlantic Salt/C14 Rescue. The handle is only a hair longer, but a whole lot thicker, nearly twice as thick as the others.

Deacon beat me to it. ^ I have the new Assist Salt and it is basically the size of an endura. The only difference is handle thickness. It is MUCH thicker than the endura. Provides a good solid grip and would likely feel more significant with heavy gloves on but is less comfortable for prolonged work than the endura handle IMO. This is the epitome of a purpose driven design. I keep mine in the glove box as an emergency blade.

p.s. The whistle is cool. :)

Ok cool, reading the stats it seems endura ish but on camera it was looking like the size of a darn VHS tape (I anyone remembers what that was lol)

I've had one of the originals for years. It is one tough knife, I've chopped away at branches with it.

The Assist has been around for at least 10 years, I bought one around 2005 and its lived in my Mountain a Rescue kit most of that time. My version doesn't have the glass breaker or the shroud on the sheeps foot. Much chunkier handle and very positive to use especially with gloves. It feels like a real tank. I've cut lots of 11mm climbing rope with its guillotine feature and it slices though like butter creating a very clean cut.
