Ok time to get a new folder. I have a benchmade 580 and LOVE IT! I need one smaller. I like the Bench Mini but also like the kershaw blur. There are so many great folders. I dont mind spending about 100 on it. It is my EDC. My 580 is a little too big. I have been carrying it for a few weeks. The blade length is a little long for legal reason in IL. So I believe a 3" is ok in IL. The mechanics of the Benchmade are really nice. it is solid and the look is one of my favorites. But to be honest I havent played with many other folders. I have a ton of fixed. Now comes the folder(s)! HAHA. This knife thing is a bad habit!

Been carrying a Kershaw Blur for the last two years or so. Fits the CO law and I've been very pleased with it. 1670BLK born March 08.

I don't know what the steel is but it holds it's edge very well and touches up readily.

Only complaint is that it's a pocket carry only, I prefer IWB carry, opened on me the third day, no more, clipped inside a pocket from there on, never a problem since.

One of the better $65 I ever spent on a knife.

Regards,
:) ...

Oh... my 300 post :)

Illinois doesn't really have a blade limit per say. If you commit a crime and have a blade of over 3 inches with you, that boosts the status of the crime however. I guess if you don't rob a bank or murder someone that won't be so much a problem. Of course some cities have more limits.

I do like the Kershaw Blur and it is usually my EDC knife here in NC. At first I found it a little too big for my usual EDC works, but a little experimentation and work with the blade found it does the job admirably and I use it when out in the field at work, camping and a bunch of other times. I do sometimes find it a little too large to do some jobs however and that is when I pull out my trusty old Kershaw Leek. The last case was a dead hornet trapped in a CFL lightbulb on the porch and needed removing. The Leek also works well for when I am in the suit and so on as it not as bulky and has a safety so I can slip it into my chest pocket out of the way.

I never found I needed anything bigger and it makes it rather bulky and unweildly. I am still wanting Kershaw to release a JYD 1 sized knife with the G10 handle, rather then the massive size of the JYD2.

I am also still waiting for a smaller version of the Spyderco Manix to come out. I love the blade shape and feel, but I want it toned down in size quite a bit.

That's easy... the 585 Mini-Barrage. You can find them NIB for $75 if you look around. I bought one for that from a BF member in one of the "for sale" areas here.

Stay sharp,

Kershaw OD-1? It might as well be an A/O. The Needs Work is one of the most ergonomically perfect knives I've ever held. You might like a Kershaw Avalanche if you can find one. Leek? Shallot?

Check them out.
