Hi all. Just a reminder - especially to my fellow countrymen here - that from July 1st, the Australian low value GST threshold disappears.

Previously, the 10% GST was only levied on items ordered from overseas that were above $1000. Now, any company that sells more than $75 000 worth of goods each year to Australia (including mail forwarders) will be responsible for collecting this charge. Hence why this is often referred to as "the eBay tax".

So this is a heads up to all the other Aussie buyers. You will be paying an extra 10% if you buy a knife from somewhere like eBay. Customs may also hold your new knife until the seller pays the 10%. And of course an extra "administrative charge" will apply, because the ABF has been horribly inconvenienced.

If you've been lusting after some sweet stabby goodness on a major shopping site, you might want to make sure it's in your mailbox by the end of June.
