new B.M. handles

I see them, the grips are nice....but I dont see the point. You take a very economical knife and throw very nice handles on there to make it a high end knife with a production quality(grinds finish etc). I guess if you love your grippy and have the $$ it would make sense but for the money I wouldnt want to do it.

I agree with barrabas. Just doesn't make any sense to put that much into a prod. knife. For the price of the Grippies and quality of build you get with the stock item and then throw the Ritter into the mix just doesn't make any sense from my point of view. keepem sharp

PS then again you have the folks that love to pimp there EKI's. That doesn't make any sense to me either unless of course you are talking one of STR's frame lock conversions.!

I agree also. Now if a nice set of aluminum or G-10 handles for the Grip were about $50.00, I could easily see doing it, but at the prices on that website, no. I understand costs are high doing small batch custom work like that, but not for a Griptilian.

I think they could be cheaper, but... it would be nice to have one for a user and know that you could swap out the blade as needed... plenty o' grips around for cheap... I'm not afraid to carry and use customs, but lots of peeps on this forum seem to be... lmao...
I've seen messed up, asymmetrical grinds on more than a few customs... as far as BMs blades, I've never seen so much as a flaw in either the grind, HT, or finish on them... plenty of variants as well... I'll probably get one....

If you take the price of a custom made folder and divide it in half, then you've got a Grip with custom made handles, pretty economical. Benefit #1.

Since the Axis lock is unavailable in all but the most expensive folders, there's benefit #2.

Benchmade's heat treat, materials, and fit and finish are reliable and generally very high quality, maybe more so than some custom folders, benefit #3.

Will the upgrade enhance the resale value of the knife? Well, probably not. It's meant as an 'experience enhancer'. I think the guy who's going to spring for this is probably unconcerned with resale value, and more concerned with having a cool, relatively rare, aftermarket upgrade, to a factory product which has an excellent track record.

That's my two bits for what they're worth.

It may not make sense, but I can see "pimping my Griptilian" sooner than buying a 3-400 dollar knife and then putting a $150.00 handle on it.
