New Baby Arrived! Picture in cradle.

My new KMG got here today!

I got the machine with the base plate, 10" smooth contact wheel, small wheel attachment and flat platen as well as a couple extra tool bars so I can quick change all the attachments:)

There's also a 2" contact wheel in route (backordered) that will replace the top wheel on the flat platen attachment to allow more flexability.

Hopefully the Leeson 2hp motor will also arrive by the weekend that I'll couple with a Toshiba 2HP VFD that I got with the help of our own PSO a few months back. There's also some cast iron pulleys incoming as well as a box of assorted belts from Pops.

Should be a good weekend:)

I can't wait to get it wired and get to some serious grinding.

you lucky bastard
so what do you think is it worth the money im looking into getting a kmg-1 myself as soon as i get back to work

Well.....I haven't got the motor hooked up yet, so it's hard to say for sure. I did a lot of research with other makers and did check out one in the flesh and I'd say it was convincing enough that I put my money down.

One thing's for sure. If what I make from here out sucks, I won't be able to blame the machine.

i hear yah there man im still on a craftsman 2x42" so im jealous as hell

i just am so tired of dealing with off tracking it aint funny when i set a belt i want it to be set not have to re-adjust every like lets say 45 seconds

I've ground on just about every knife grinder out there, except for Dozier's.

IMHO, YES, Rob's grinder is definitely worth his asking price!!! :D

Congratulations PJH... that's a beauty, and you're going to love it :)

You've got a fantastice motor package! Don't hesitate to drop me a line if you have questions about setting the grinder up.

Sincere thanks,
Rob

Hey John

Im holding you up arent I? The motor is on the way, I promise. This one will work too!

Remember, The anticipation makes it that much more exciting when it finally gets up and running. I will get the tracking number for you later today.

Im sure it will be there in the next 2 or 3 weeks.;) :D

Man you are lucky!!!!

I am still working on home built grinders with a dream of some day buying a real grinder that I haven't had to rig up or make myself :D
Have fun with it,
Bruce

Hey Rob, thanks a lot. She's a real beauty.

PJH,I feel your pain acutely. I have your same grinder, but now it's looking for a new home:)

Michael, thanks bro. Unfortunately, I'll be working tomorrow, but you know what my eveings and all this weekend will be about.

Bruce, I have a really nice heavy duty grinder about 3/4 done if you're looking for another project. It has no flexability and is ugly and I finally decided to throw in the towel and get on with learning how to grind instead of tinkering with a home made machine. Looks like you've done pretty well with your's though.

As though I needed another reason to envy your workshop!

Sorry to hear you're throwing in the towel on your homemade machine, John. I know you put a lot of thought and work into it.

Sean,

It's not totally a dead issue. It might morph into a horizontal grinder one day, but for now, it's time to grind some blades!

You Bugger ! Jokes on me . Ha ! Ha ! Thought for a minute you had a cute little new born ! Oh well , at least its a KMG ! You will love it !

Oh, your very own tank...ain't that beautiful! Not only does Rob make a world-class grinder, he packs it for shipping like it should be! You shoulda seen the way my Bader came - I actually had to repair stuff that had broken loose during shipping. 'Course, nothing on a KMG could even break! You are a lucky man, you're gonna love that bad boy. I am duly jealous.
