My ramp-less Bravo 1 w/ A2 steel & matte micarta handles and no ramp just came in today and already shipped out to me! Thanks to The Knife Connection for such speedy processing and shipping!

I'm hoping that they thickened up the grind on this batch of Bravo 1's based on some of the issues that have surfaced recently. Since this is intented as a hard-use survival knife, I'm willing to give up the extreme "hair-popping/scary" sharp for just "very sharp" with the ability to take some light chopping and batonning.

The wait for USPS to bring this to my door begins...why did it have to be shipped right before the holidays??!!

Thanks to all of you that pointed me in this direction. I am anticipating a very nice knife in the Bravo 1. The lifetime warranty doesn't hurt either...:D:thumbup:

Congrats on the new blade! Rampless and matte ... very cool!

On a side note ..... I know one thing.

Mike wont change his vision or his knives based on a Noss test or a few reports of a thin edge.

Don't even ask him about it. lol :D

If you find the knife chipping just give it a micro bevel at a slightly steeper angle from the stock edge. If it still chips go a little steeper. Repeat until the chipping or rolling stops. You now have the optimum edge angle for your uses.
With a thin blade this shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Re-profiling an edge that is too thick usually takes hours.

Thanks for the info!

I wouldn't worry too much about the edge being too thin. When it comes in, look it over, but test it out. Whittle test it against other thicker edges that you have. The Barkies just "melt" through materials due to their grind.

My "thin ground" Bravo 1 performs incredible cutting through wood for a knife it's thickness.

I have to laugh at all the worry about bending the edge on the Bravo. As mentioned above, if the angle is too acute, its very easy to add a micro bevel to make it steeper.

I personally like a knife that cuts well through standard materials. I don't like or want a sharpened crow bar that I can pound through concrete blocks.

Mike would freak if he heard you put an actual micro bevel on it. Just lift the spine about an 1/8" and it will thicken right up.

Hi All,
I'm in UK, i recently bought a Bravo 1, I'm not happy with the factory sheath at all! any ideas where can i find a suitable sheath for bravo 1? price doesn't matter.

Crystal falls trading and Knives Ship Free both carry the Sharp Shooter leather sheath's. You can get the regular for $45 usd or the weather resistant one for about $65. It fits well, has a large belt loop opening, and a firesteel loop. It's top quality, brown or black.
On the kydex from BRKT, when inserting it, lean the knife towards the spine, and watch it open up a bit. The knife will just pop in. It does ride high on the belt though.

The leather sheath is MUCH better than the Kydex version. Honestly, for such a quality product Mike needs to do something about the synthetic sheath. It's a real let down - at least make one that doesn't look and operate like it's been slapped together in the garage. Sure the retention is excellent but the operation is bad. You either jam the edge towards the metal rivets to unlock or risk slicing fingers but pulling it out with sheer force.
