I am savoring getting the new FBM, but at a quandry as to whether I should get the HO or the Std. All my current BM's are 1/4 inch, so is there a real need for a fatso that long and heavy. So what are you all thinking about as far thickness.

In a knife that large I personally like the extra heft as I use them for chopping and prying. If I carried the knife around at all I would go with the thinner blade as performance won't change much, fortunately I don't carry my big blades around so it's the fat sow for me!

That's a blade that's going to require two hands, regardless. Might as well go with the big-boned version.

I will probably get the standard thickness I probably wont need the really thick one. But who knows....

I will probably get both, but the regular one will probably become the user.
If the HOFSH is any indication, the HOFBM will be an absolute monster in weight.

Don't get me wrong, but the FBM just seems like it will be too big for me. The FSH will probably be as big as I'll go, and $ will be saved for a SFNO when/if it comes up. The FBM looks incredible, but to split wood I use an axe. The fact that I have psoriatic arthritis in my hands is also a hold back. Does anyone else have issue with weight or size due to injury or disability? If so and you use the bigger blades, how does it work for you?

i think considering it's size i will use the standard for chopping and clearing trails and the fat mistress for splitting kindling for the fire although i think both will do either.

Good idea skunk. I just wonder if the fatty won't be slower while the regular will serve better at clearing out brush and not just chopping.

I want a 3/16" satin finished version of both the FBM and FSH! Oh yeah and a 3/8" FBM would be great too! :D

A 3/16” FBM, now we’re talking!

I’ll take the thinnest version available: with the performance of a Busse knife, the size of the FBM, and the fact that I do carry my big knives, I want ¼” or 3/16 thick.

Haven't found any reason to carry anything fatter than my SHBM......1 of the first 300 of course!!

Yah, it would be cool to be able to get it in whatever thickness you want, but that would be a logistical nightmare for Busse. 3/16 ZTFBM would be cool though. Wonder what it would look like with a saber grind?

3/8 inch thick is just way to thick for my taste.
