New bead blast for the s45 31?

I just got a new 31, a small “come and take it” graphic. The texture of the scales is (was actually lol) quite rough- almost abrasive feeling. I have several other 31s, but none this new (made just a couple of months ago).
Did CRK change the material used for blasting the scales or did I just get an oddball?
I took the knife apart and spent some time rubbing the scales on an old pair of jeans. This actually wore holes in the material! It did the trick though, the scales now have the same feeling as my other CRK folders.
 
In my experience starting somewhere around August 2021 they seemed to have a much more rough blast. The more recent ones have become more “normal”. Maybe it was just a fresh batch of sand.

I recall hearing this as well. That when the glass beads are new, the first knives out have a deeper texture. They they mellow out until the blast media is replaced again.
 
My small 31 has a birthday of 9/23/21, it felt pretty rough when I first got it, but after a few weeks smoothed out noticably.
 
I seem to recall there was a thread here about a announcement from CRK about doing away with the polished finish on the handle unless you paid a premium for them.

Hopefully someone with a better memory with chime in here.
 
My L31 S45 felt like 180 grit paper... it since smoothed out.

But i would really like to see what glass bead would look like on the L31.
