So this stripper named Clean Strip comes up to me at the club :D...Stripped a JAB Potbelly and a BK16. I am not a fan of the new coating on the Beckers its like truck bed liner, way too rough of a finish. It does seem to come off easier than the old coating though, the Potbelly wanted to hold its coating much more than the 16. Not a fan of the laser etch either, but likely saves a bit on production cost, which is likely the same with the new coating. They turned out pretty good though, and look more to my taste (not the tactical look). I would stress that anyone wanting to strip anything follow the label on the can in terms of personal precautions during use. Its some pretty nasty stuff that stripper...

I am getting ready to strip a 5, and 14. I havent stripped any before and i was wondering which stripper worked the best and most efficient. Spray or brush and brand names as well. Thanks for any info you can give up.

if i decide too strip mine i'll just lay in near the wife when shes chewing me out for something stupid i've done!! that venom can take the S off supermans chest lol!

You can get it at any hardware/home repair store---i believe it was about 8 bucks a can--I got 2 strips out of it (2 and 14) and would have gotten another one if I wouldnt have tried to strip my Gerber Prodigy-now thats a good coating--left it on for 2 hours-nothing-left it on for 15--still nothing....

Dang it, sounds like that prodigy doesnt wanna strip. Mite have to just get it blasted too get the job done!

I have seen some very nice stripped and patina Beckers, but mine is largely still with their coatings due to my humid and wet jungles. The new coating is very rough so I sanded it lightly to a smoother surface.

Clean Strip works well but again read teh directions and use PPE. I thought about sanding the rough texture down a bit but decided most of my Beckers still have the old coating which is much smoother. I stripped these two blades because the Potbelly coating was messed up from grinding off a flat spot and the 16 was too rough. I am curious to see how rust resistant they are with the higher Chromium and Vanadium content.
