Hello fellow beckerheads! I’ve been lurking but haven’t posted in quite some time.

Thought I would stop in and see if anyone was going to be at blade show this weekend?

It’s going to be a good one because we are getting a new Becker collaboration! Ethan and Dan Eastland of Dogwood knives. Are starting a Joy of Cooking kitchen series. The first in the series will be revealed at the show.

If you didn’t know Ethan’s grandmother is the original author of the Joy of Cooking. Its authorship has been passed down in the family and now belongs to Ethan and his son. Rumor has it they will both be at the Dogwood booth to sign books.

I’m personally super excited because I use my Becker/ESEE kitchen knives about every day!

I wish! I don’t think they will show it until the show starts.

I tried to repost an informational photo from Dan’s Instagram and then I remembered that blade forums makes it as hard as possible to post photos on mobile…

Looks like book signing will be between 1-2pm at the dogwood booth.

Very interesting!
I’ve enjoyed my Becker/Esee kitchen knives, but would love to see something more from Ethan in the way of kitchen knives.
I’m staying tuned…

Well I purchased one! It’s beautiful! I would post photos, but I can’t. The first of the series is a full size chef.

They are 100% USA made. S35vn. Comes in a few different colors of micarta (black, natural, blue and red). The cost is $200 for this particular one.

Ethan and Dan’s philosophy on these is that the Joy of Cooking is a cook book for the everyday common man and woman. They want these knives to be accessible to the common person as well. So they are keeping them simple and tasteful.

Dan says they will hopefully keep the series going with a new release every year. The series will be 4 knives, but possibly 5 in total. They did have a prototype of the next one in the series. Handle material will stay the same throughout the years so you can build your matching set as you go along.

S35VN? Give me 1095, I don’t need/want any super steels!

I kid, I kid; someone always says that! ;)
That would be me 😊.
There's a picture floating around on Facebook doesn't look different than any other kitchen knives out there. At $200 and S35VN I'll pass

I missed the 98 so I'll be very interested to check these out whenever the are released and available to buy!

In December, I spent over a grand on various kitchen knives. I would need to see more and something really compelling to get these.

Dan has been dialing in his designs with professional chefs for awhile.
The slim handle makes a lot of sense for a proper pinch-grip AND they're going to sell a lot of these to the non-squatch set, I bet.
$200 for a USA-built chef knife in a solid modern steel is a good price. My own smallest carbon steel belt knives in 1084 and a belt finish start at $200.
