Hey guys, I'm a FNG here, but I finally registered because other forums I belong to do not cater much to knives like Beckers, which I am growing increasingly fond of.

I have been hunting for the perfect heavy duty, "Small" size Bush knife. When I go out in the woods, I have been generally carrying a Mora around my neck, a Benchmade Grip in the pocket and a Kabar Cutlass Machete that I Duracoated for the heavier work. But I still wasn't satisfied...I wanted one of those "If I only had one" knives. I decided on the BK2.

Why did I decide on the BK2? You guys. I have been lurking around in here for a week or two, trying to make up my mind. I knew it would be a Becker of some sort (2? 7? 9?). The only non Becker candidate was an RTAK II. But you just cant beat the Becker BK2, especially if you have Amazon Prime.

Already ordered a Spec-Ops Combat Master Short sheath (again, thanks to you). I do like the sheath it came with though...minus the web strap. Will mod it in some way for a backup sheath. Not sure how yet....too many good ideas out there!

Now, to give something back!!

It's not much really. I can't order the Micarta till Friday. I just got the BK2 out of the box about a half hour ago. DAMN those handles are slick! Almost as slick as the handle of the Morakniv Classic pre-mod that ended with two wicked scars on my fingers and some mild nerve damage. I think with Becker being at KaBar now it's time for a grippier grip.

ANYWAY...In order to solve the problem for now, I dug into my box o' mod stuff and pulled out a roll of Black Hockey Stick Grip Tape.

This can be got at any good sporting goods store. It's a cloth tape that is adhesive on one side, and sticky on the other. It is real sticky when new, giving you a SUPER grip, and yet it leaves no residue on your hands. It rolls very neat around the handle too so it doesn't look sloppy.

So if you have the factory grips and dont have Micarta or anything else yet, and dont want to carve them up, Grab a roll of that tape and you'll be pleasantly surprised. You might want to get some anyway in case you want to do some heavy chopping for that extra margin of safety.

Thanks again. I look forward to building on the Becker addiction and learning more great mods and upgrades from you guys.

Oh yeah...I got a Becker Necker last week which I cord wrapped and added the TDI clip. So thats 2 Beckers so far. The "9" will prob. be next.

Another post #1 in Beckerland. Welcome!
And congrats on the Becker knives. Let's see some pics when you can post 'em.
I've seen the hockey tape "fix" mentioned once or twice before.
Also, for a more permanent fix, you can try bike inner tube.
Just be sure to stretch it on there with the knife in the sheath (safety reasons).

Thanks! I'm already set on ordering the Micarta though...especially since I saw the pic someone posted after soaking theirs in 3-in-1 oil...Very Nice!

I know what you mean about doing it with the knife in the sheath. Thats how I cut myself with my first Mora. If you've never had a Mora, spend $13 and get one. The carbon steel blades are the sharpest damn things I've ever seen. Like Stupid-Scary Sharp.

Has anyone here Duracoated a Becker yet?

Congrats on the BK2 purchase. There's a lot of good info and people here. I had a bad experience with a Mora laminated blade taking it out of the box it was shipped in...

Did someone say carbon Moras? :D

Post whore.

WOOOOOHHOOOOOOO!!!!!! BK2's ROCKIN' OUT!!!!!

Best knife ever. That's my opinion, anyways. I find the grivory grips to be quite "grippy". I've used mine in various conditions, mostly sweat, and the wetter they get, the better they stick I hav found.

Couple of guys once dipped the handles of a BKT knife in transmission fluid, and took turns stabbing it into a tree. No slippages, no injuries. Yes the knife was sharp, no, they weren't wearing gloves, and no, I don't think they were sober.

Anyway, good mod, and making the world yours. Thanks for Posting here for your first.

Welcome to the Becker forum and Bladeforums, we're glad you're here.

Stick around, we got some good stuff going on.

Oh my God, you guys are killing me...quit! I have been trying not to buy more Moras, especially with this Becker-a-week habit. That Blaze Orange Cerakote is sweet! I dont know what forum I was on, but has he been doing that to Surefires and other flashlights too?

Anyone that can work with Duracoat/Ceracoat has my respect. That shit is HARD. I successfully Duracoated a Kabar Cutlass Machete, and to a lesser degree, a Cold Steel Rajah II. Everything else I destroyed.

Now I gotta ask...why does everyone say "Moose is costing me a lot of money"?? Are you the resident sheath ninja?

No, I don't think so, everyone can still see me. Maybe. Maybe its just a decoy.

I'm just the guy that likes Beckers alot. I tend to tell people about them, and show off my stuff and they like what they see.

I do make sheaths but they don't cost that much, me thinks. Others may disagree.

Not sure really,

<poof>

Well, and there's the whole belly-dancing-in-a-thong side line.
When some guys say "Moose is costing me money," that's what they mean.

You weren't supposed to talk about that. What happens is Memphis, stays in Memphis. My trust in you is betrayed forever. Send me a Blackjack BK2 to regain my trust. Depending on the condition of the knife, my trust may be restored to BNIB, NIB, Sharpened, or 80%.
