New Becker Knife Idea

I am a proud owner of a BK7 and a BK9. I am a big fan of these knives. They both see alot of use in the outdoors along with the kitchen. I hope that Ethan and Camillus are planning on releasing new knife designs in the future. If you are, here are my 2 cents. I would like to see a knife with a 4" blade that has the same profile as the BK7, with the same shaped handle as the BK7 but sized proportionately. Basically a sized down BK7. You could call it the BK4. If you put this knife on the market it would make an excellent EDC or hunting knife that I think would appeal to alot of people. Tell me what you think. I would happily test out any prototypes of this knife.

OK, I got the Becker-Bug. Since Christmas I've gotten a necker, BK-9, BK-7, and crewman (Forget what number that is).

These are great!

What I'd like to see is a shortish 3.5-4" fixed blade, with a less "bulky" blade profile. Something I could get away with wearing when I'm NOT out camping. Essentially, a daily fixed blade, with the same Becker steel, and quality.

OK Camillus, that is four sales already on this hypothetical knife. When will it ship? Ethan, if you care to chime in, I would love to hear your thoughts on this idea.

You guys should take a look at the CUDA CQB Jr.

That is basically what you describe, with a little different blade shape. An EDC sheath would be helpful though. These sheaths are a little hard to make fit in at the office.

It's not a Becker, but the Cuda Arclite nearly meets all the criteria of the wish list right now. I've been carrying (wearing) mine for quite some now and have found it to be a great piece. After taking a couple links out of the bead chain, this knife rides absolutely perfect on my frame for concealment. I'm the only one that knows it's there.

When I get a chance to stop by the local hardwood dealer I intend to buy some thin woods stock (1/8", probably Goncalo Alves) and make some scales for this blade. The ONLY thing I don't care for on this knife is the thinness of the handle. If after making scales it doesn't carry concelaed as well due to the increased thickness, off they'll come. Having it "wear" better is a higher priority.

I think that they should take a 4.5 inch version of the BK7 by making the blade a little less long, wide and thin, while still keeping the same profile(kinda like the prototype of the BK11). For the handle, the could slim the scales down to whatever thickness reaches the right amount(I don't know what thickness I'd recommend for teh handle as I've never tried measuring that before) and then cut where the area where the handle starts curving back out for the back of your hand off. You';d still be able to thrust good, just not chop, and since the blade woudl be too small to chop, it woudl be fine, IMHO.
There are probably a million good ideas out there for this project, we'd just need to see drawings of them to get exactly what we want.

Could anyone from Camillus or Ethan chime in about the possability of any new Beckers?

Guys,
Thanks for the interest, but as of right now, we don't have any new BK&T's, in the standard product line-up, planned right now. We are currently working on the BK&T EXTREME's.

For an everyday carry Becker, whats not to love about the Becker Necker :)
