Lots of people have been recieving new blades and it got me thinking, while I wait for my BK20 to be delivered, if anyone else has a ritual they follow when unboxing a new BK&T blade?

I personally pass the edge over a leather strop, add a ranger band to the handle and top it off with a bright orange lanyard. In the front pouch I put a Smith's pocket sharpener and ferro rod with orange lanyards too.

Those things make me feel like my Becker is complete and ready to head outdoors. Anyone else have a routine?

I give it a name. Usually after a woman from my past.

I go chop or cut stuff until the factory edge wears off, then I convex the edge.
From there I decide what I want for the knife, strip, cerakote, handles, sheath, etc.

I go out and beat the new off of it, then put my own edge on it. Then decide if it needs anything else :D

During the unboxing process I typically go to a dark room and sit in a circle of candles and sacrifice a chicken for the knife gods before opening. After I open the box I pour the chicken blood over the knife and wave burning sage around the blade.

After that's all cleaned up I go right to me shop and draw up plans for a sheath to make for said blade.

;);););) hahaha

I like to put on face paint, then stand in the mirror holding it up and practicing my war face.
