New Becker owner needing sharpening advice

I've used a sharpmaker for years and get on really well with it but since buying ka-bars and recently a BK2 I've noticed it's not sharpening the tips of the blade, I've done the trick with a sharpy marker pen and on one side there is still ink on the edge.
I'm not sure if I done the right thing but I placed my course bench stone against the sharp makers stone to get the right 20 degree angle and kept going until the ink had disappeared and a slight bur could be felt on the opposite side , once done I then sharpened both sides with the sharpmakers fine stones.
Reapplying the sharpie again and testing a few strokes on the fine stone shows all the ink being removed along the whole blade and on both sides.

The very tip still looks a little lopsided so maybe I need to even up the other side but I don't want to make the tip too thin. Should I just leave it as it is and let future sharpening take care of it.

It's now shaving sharp and I didn't need to remove very much metal and like I said it really was only the tip and the rest of the blade was fine.

Did I do ok or is there a better way to remedy this.

That's a nice trick with the stone and the Sharpmaker.
I've spent quite a bit of time on my BK2 with the sharpmaker. It took awhile, but the end results are worth it.
My Camillus 2 had a very obtuse edge and took awhile to get it in shape.

Looks like you did just fine. I'm not too obsessive about things like this so I would leave it alone.

The only thing that really drives me nuts is a chipped edge. I'll spend hours trying to sharpen it out and then stropping it til it's near perfect.

If it shaves hair do NOT waste any more time on it......... Work on another one....LOL...... Your methodology is impressive......
