Hello all, I have been lurking awhile and figured it was time to say hello. Long story short i have always done alot of camping and hiking but have never really gotten into any survival type stuff. Y2K didn't concern me, nor do the predictions of the Mayans. But...... the way things are going crazy in the world around us I have started putting together a bug out bag. Well any good reason to buy a new knife right? I started with a Mora Tri Flex but decided I would like a heavier blade also. Which led me to Becker Knife and Tool. And you fine peeps.

Anyhow so now I am the proud new owner of a nice new shiney BK2. I say shiney because as soon as I got it I stripped the black epoxy off the blade. I'm just not into the "tactical" look. I left the coating on under the scales to help with rust prevention though, and will now let the blade patina as it will.

So far I really like the BK2 I live in Northern Idaho so a lot of my bushcraft type "tasks" are based around hacking and chopping conifers and this brute does just fine. I ordered a BK14 this evening that I'm thinking about using as my edc knife.

Sorry if this was the wrong place to post an intro. John

Welcome! I did tha same thing with my BK2. I like tactical, but I love "old timey" better. I stripped the black and I'm waiting on some wood scales to complete the look!

Welcome to the Becker forum, and Bladeforums, this is a perfect place to post an intro. :D

I agree with you 100%, coatings do tend to protect the blade, but I like to clean mine off as well. That Triflex is solid knife, I have one too, and its a great, great blade, but I tend to get rough with my knives from time to time, and the BK2 can take just about as much punishment as a person can dish out. Good knife to have in a tough spot.

Once again, welcome John, stick around, we're glad you joined us.

Welcome! Glad to have ya! BK14 will make a great EDC knife.

Welcome to the Becker forum. I'm looking forward to seeing your BK2 in action.

Congrats on the new blade, and welcome to the forums.

My BK-2 lives in my BOB. I whip it out here and there, but it always sleeps in the BOB.

Welcome to Beckerland!
