Forged 5160, cowhorn stick tang handle. The hammer marks were per my request and are outstanding in there composition. A tasteful accent.

Of course I will have many more pix and some pix of other recently bought toys up on my web page soon. Ill keep ya posted.

It didn't occur to me that cow horn could be used as handle material. They are hollow right? I figure you fill 'em with epoxy or something?!
I remain, Ebbtide

Ebbtide,It dependes on the horn that you get ahold of.I have gotten ahold of some that was hollow all the way to the point and others that were solid 5 or 6 inch's from the tip or more....This piece came off from a set of Texas Longhorn, and is solid all but anout 2 inch's of the handle,The rest of the horn still is thick enough to make some scales for a handle without heating and bending but grind it flat after cutting it ...Then you still have allot that will make thinner handles and spacers. The neat thing about cowhorn is that you never know exactly what the colors are going to be,they can vary from Black to Blonde and brown and allot of the times they will be streaked with the different colors, like opening a present and seeing what you get....Bruce

Beautiful Blade, great design! I have forged knife that has the Hammer marks on the blade as well, I love the way it looks, kind of keeps the spirit of the fire and steel alive in the knife. (eloquent huh)

Great idea to use the Cattle horn too!
