:) Got a new belt sander/grinder yesterday!!!! I hope to be able to put out projects a lot quicker. As soon as I figure out the pictuer thing, I'll put some on the group.
Thanks,
Jim L.

Congratulations on the new grinder! I keep meaning to get one for myself but there are too many other tools I need to buy.

Congrats. That is something on my list of wants also. I would really like to get me one of the Dozier made grinders one of these days. I hear they are pretty great.

Be careful about heat buildup. I've blued a couple knife tips by going too slow on my belt grinder. (2 x 48 Delta) Doh.

What kind did you get and what belts are you planning to use?

I picked up a Ryobi from Home Despot. It's a combo belt and disk, both provided with 80 grit. I picked up #50 for both and #150 for the belt (already had some for the disk).

I'm really looking forward to playing with it. I'd been using an electric drill mounted in a vise (already burned one up) in conjunction with bench grinder.

`Lookin' forward to sharing what I put out!:) :) :)

I was thinking about getting the same one... let me know how it works and if you like it...:)

So far I've just been playing with it to get a feel for it. I pretty much use salvaged stock that isn't the most rust free or pitless. For removal of material down to smooth metal, it rocks!

I keep a Big Gulp cup full of water next to the grinder to keep things cool.

www.jantzsupply.com has fine grit belts for it. 320-400 grit is a good place to start. 400 will remove a lot of edge metal, while leaving a good finish.

How much was the damage for that one? I don't know very much about Ryobi and their quality reputation.

It was about $99.00 as was, but with the extended warranty, total was $114.00.
