New Benchmade Apparition Model

I thought the carbon fiber scaled, damasteel blade one looked rather nice, but my experiences with the passaround model kinda put me off.

Mine's solid as a rock both closed and open. Planterz, I handled one of the original models a while back and didn't really care for it. The new model with olive-drab micarta and black coating is a significant improvement in my opinion. Looks a little more rugged.

Thats funny because the 4 670's that i own dont rattle:D

Yeah, to be fair the passaround model that I played with rattled. THe screw for the torsion bar was loose and even after tightening it, it still had to be sent back to BM.

But it didn't stop me from buying one of the limited edition model (black blade/grey bolster). And it's as tight as any other knife I own. They may have had a problem at the first, but they've obviously solved it.

I think they are cool looking knives and they have the usual BM quality. I would just like it better as a standard opening knife without the removable torsion bar.

Could be the reason the ones I handled rattled was the torsion bar was slightly loose, not sure.

My 670 is solid, but I have to admit that I like it better with the torsion bar removed.

Mine was solid until I dropped it, sent it in to Benchmade, its solid again. Probably not too good to carry it around the Peoples Republic of Maryland, though.

I bought mine about a year ago - rock solid. I did have to send it to BM because the blade refused to open. I guess there was a problem with the torsion bar. It's not happened again.

Only thing I HATE about the knife are the lame-%ss handles.
"Kudu-Horn Styled" ......Please. A far more accurate term would be: "Candy-Machine Toy" styled. It feels/looks like something you would have purchased in the 70's. I already tried to get BM to swap out some handles - no dice.
AND NO slam on BM. I own about 30 of them. And I did buy the knife With the "kudu". I still like the knife. Just wish there was a handle alternative.

I hear ya on the Kudu pimpin scales..love Benchmade knives but this is the turnoff for me on it...

Just picked up a Blackhawk this week- "WOW"
