I saw report that BM710HS has new coating BK -
"BK1 BenchKoteT BLADE COATING- Our own proprietary blade coating offering excellent corrosion resistance, which exceeds the ASTM-117 specification for saltwater corrosion resistance. BK1 is a poly-ceramic coating (a blend of polymers and ceramic). It's thinner than the previous blade coating BT2, has equal to or better corrosion resistance (exceeding the ASTM salt spray standard) and unlike BT2 has much better wear resistance due to the ceramic."

Anybody know what it is? Anybody has it already?

Thanks, Vassili.

For a couple weeks now I've been using a 710HS with the BK1 coating. I don't have any experience with the BT2 coating, but I've seen how it wears. The BK coating is definitely tougher, although it doesn't seem quite as tough as titanium nitride or boron carbon oxide. It's definitely no DLC. Cutting cardboard will mark it, as will cutting anything thick or hard.

It's definitely an improvememnt over BT2 though.

I have used the BT2 coating on the AFCK, etc for awhile. Recently I have 2 Benchmades in circulation with the new BK1 finish. While not as durable as some coatings that are out there, it is most definatly an upgrade overall. I edc a black Skirmish and cut a variety of stuff everyday, the coating does exhibit wear, however not as bad as the older one. Time will tell.
