New Benchmade Custom Griptilian

Pretty recently BM added g10 to their custom shop so I finally decided to buy a custom Griptilian! They only come in a few colors which are black, sand, and forest green and come in 3 different textures. I figured since they're made by Benchmade they must be pretty nice! I decided on a red blade in 154cm since I already have a few good steel blades but they're all uncoated or black. Here's the finished product! They actually gave me a scale with a different texture on accident, but that's alright since you're not allowed to choose two different scale textures in the shop so it's unique!

That's pretty cool. I didn't realize that you could get anything other than uncoated or black. I would like to get my wife a custom mini grip. She loves purple so I guess that she will have to get frn scales, unless they do a purple blade coating.

Wow, looks great. How do the G10 scales compare the the factory scales? Size and weight wise. I'm most interested in knowing if they are thinner.

The blade coating is great. Wish they did the coloured coatings on the other steels they offer, I'd love an orange M4 557

Nice - I like that BM has this customizing available.

I like the idea of a G10 scale, as the standard FRN handles feel a little plastic to me, but I have to say they are darn durable.

how much is shipping when doing this? How was the turnaround time? Thanks

Shipping was $15. It took almost exactly 2 weeks to get here from when I ordered it. The good thing is that I've heard from others on here that you can change steels at any time for knives from the custom shop. Once I wear my 154 blade out I'll upgrade to m4, they said it should be $40
