Hi everyone,

I really like the Benchmade Axis lock, unfortunately I don't like the current Benchmade knives with the Axis lock. Does anyone know what knives they have that will be coming out soon in Axis?

Thanks
Roger

A lot of unpleasant stuff that I'm sorry I wrote. Looks a lot better just removed.

Apologies to the original poster.

...I'll stop there because all of the sudden I realized I was wasting my time.

Mybe you should collect stamps or coins. You obviously don't have an eye for beauty of function and form when it comes to some of the finest and most beautiful production knives ever made.

Different strokes for different folks man, you didn't have to insult him and then suggest he should just quit his hobby. And I have no idea when Benchmade will release any new axis knives, to answer the original question.

I don't know of any yet, but if you haven't seen the current line in person, you might want to before rejecting them- you just may really, really, really, really like them.

What were you looking for that they're missing? I know there has been a lot of noise for a mini rukus. I love the axis lock myself, but some of their designs or designers are ridiculous (resistor). Have you taken a look @ their discontinued models? I missed out on the 806 myself :/

Which designs do you like?

Of the current production, I recommend the 710 (ad infintum - fake highbrow greek) and the RUKUS is spiffy for outdoors or "big hand" carry.

As pointed out, if you don't possess 'em, there is always to old production models to be had.

Hmmm, when I was writing it I didn't know I was offending him but since you pointed it out, I can how it could be taken that way. I assure you, Rogco, that was not my intent. Your comments put me in a mild state of shock and I wasn't paying attention to what I was writing. If I did offend you, then I apologize and confirm there was no offense meant.

Regards,
Gary

I agree....and I apologized above. I was way out of line. I'll toss in another apology right here, Rogco. In truth, I actually do feel bad about it and hope I did not hurt your feelings in any way. I'm sorry....again.

There is a new Axis lock knife in the pipeline, the BM536. It gets its designation from being the halfway point between 520 and 552.

It features black G10 scales, full steel liners and a Presidio-style handle. The blade is S30V, designed by Doug Ritter.

There will be a Premium model, the BM536P, that will have Carbon Fibre scales and an M2 blade.

Release of the standard model is scheduled for mid November, just in time for my birthday.

The Premium is scheduled for release in the middle of 2007.

That is flat out wrong! I was thinking to myself, how did I not hear about a mid November release of that size. We can dream 'tho

Don't worry about it, I'm not offended. I also noticed I left some important things out of my original post.

I don't like the Zytel handles on all of the Griptilians I've handled. It just feels cheap and plasticky to me. Both the Snody and Osbourne are quite nice, but seem like a lot of money for the knife I'm receiving. I had a 710HS and I didn't really like it. Had quite a lot of blade play and didn't fit my hand that well.

I do really like the 805 Tsek and 806AFCK and also the Ares, unfortunately they're discontinued (hence not current models) and are bloody expensive. I keep my eyes open for cheap ones, but don't know if I'll find any. The 722 in G10 was quite nice, but I believe that's also discontinued.

The Rukus is HUGE! A mini Rukus would be awesome, but don't want or need anything as big as the Rukus.

Having said that, I do want something a bit bigger than the 705 and 707 (though I am really tempted by a 720, preferably in g10, but once again seems a little hard to find). I don't like the look of the 530, but I've never handled one and I've heard good things.

Ok, I'm sure I've left off loads of things, but my point is the same as above, I'm not a huge fan of the current Axis locks (I really liked some of the old ones, but they all seem to be collectible and hence expensive).

As an addititional point, I recently bought a 635 and firmly believe it's one of the best knives i've ever handled, so calm down all you Benchmade fanatics and don't rip my head off!!!

Roger

805 shouldn't be too much of a problem (nor expense).

Even with 806s going high, the 805 can still be found for reasonable cost (less than MSRP).

It's not a Benchmade but the locking system is based on the Axis lock and may be licensed from Benchmade. I saw a demo where 1000 lbs was supported by this lock. The knife is the SOG Arcitech. The beautiful blade shape is made of VG-10 San Mai (a quality San Mai) with titanium bolsters and a bone handle. To me, it is one of the most of the most beautiful production knives on the market and with a great locking system. You may want to give it a look, if you haven't already. It's on my "short list" of knives to buy.

ME TOO! But that MSRP is killer. Isn't it something like $425? That's ridiculous if you ask me. But it sure is purdy.

It can be had for about $250 off the net. A little more than what Cold Steel prices their "speciality" knives but a heck of a lot more knife for the money.

The BM Ruckus won "purchasing honors" last week but the Arcitech is almost to the top..:D
