truck got broken into the other day ..had my 20$ cd player taken ( who cares)...and my VAQUERO GRANDE..GRRRRRRRR well some shithead has a good knife anyhow... looking for advice on a good replacement, has to be big and a folder, so lets hear it gents...ohhhhhh and not worth the price of a car either... :eek:
 
I hope he slices himself open with it.

How about a Camillus CUDA Maxx? Only a 1/2" shorter than the Vaquero Grande on the blade, D2, big bowie clip point, razor sharp and stays that way.
 
Well, Camillus also has the Aftermath and the Gibbs Maxx (7" blade!) but those two are seriously expensive.

DON'T go for the Cold Steel X2 Voyager. The hollow ground blade is just not up to the damage a Vaquero Grande can handle.

The best of the rest come in at 5" I guess. Cold Steel Gunsite and Land and Sea Rescue, SOG Pentagon Elite II. Opinel has a 4.75" and a 9" blade folder.
 
Why not get another Vaquero Grande?

...Or maybe get a Benchmade 806D2 or 805 TSEK...
 
There aren't many economical choices for a good mega folder. They have pretty much been listed.

Me personally.....Cuda Maxx bowie or stiletto, Cuda Aftermath, Cuda Gibbs 7", Cold Steel Voyager, then the SOG.

Never really got into the Vaquero Grande. Looks cool, but the handle was too narrow and round for such a big knife. Turned too easily in my hand.
 
cuda maxx dagger, BM skirmish, pat crawford perfigo if ya wanna spend some $$ ($450)

any of them is wayy better than anything cold steel offers (or prob ever will offer) though higher $$ of course......
