New birthday knife!!! :D

Hey all! I'm new around here, so I thought I'd introduce myself by telling you about the knife my lovely wife got me for my birthday.

She got me a Khukuri House khukuri (of the Operation Enduring Freedom Series). Its got an 11" blade, I think its an ang khola style. This thing is VERY substantial, and I look forward to using it as a bushcraft knife in the near future. I'd post a picture of it, but I can't find the cable to my camera. I'll post one once I find it.

Cho - also called a kauri or kaura. a small notch in blade near handle.
"It has various meanings according to various people. A few are: the clitoris of Kali, the penis of Shiva, Surya ra Chandra (sun and moon, symbols of Nepal), a "Kowdi" ('cow-track' because the cow is sacred to the Hindus), a blood drip, a substitute guard, and on and on and on. Take your pick. The true meaning has been lost in time so today it is anybody's guess". -Bill Martino

Lets not get carried away with the answer folks.

Simply put it is there for religious significance, although we had a member on the HI forum whom took the time to do some Dynamic CAD testing on the Cho, and it would seem that it does act as a stress and vibration reliever to an extent. Just another testament to the tenaciousness of the Nepali Kami and the design of these blades.

The things it is not are a blood drip catcher or a trap for your enemies weapon, as some have speculated.
